Is this a good tv??? Anyone have the older kds A2020 model? http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665153957 Looking at the Specs it looks pretty good. 120hz and 3 hdmi connections. etc. Just wondering if anyone has or has seen last year's model
All depends on what you want. I bought a rear-projection 43 in. Hitachi HDTV for under $200 bucks. I don't think I'll ever spend more than a grand for a TV.
If you want way too much info, there's a discussion thread about this TV on AVS: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=889226 I saw it at Best Buy, and it looks nice. Of course, pretty much everything looks nice in the stores. Price was about $2200 if you had the 12% off coupon that they send in the mail. The new 120hz modes are freaky...I saw a couple sets this weekend that had it enabled while playing Blu-rays...at first it looks unreal because it's so smooth...almost unnaturally smooth since most people are used to seeing 24 fps movies. Honestly I wouldn't want it for watching prerecorded material, but I'd like to see it in action with live sports. I have a 3 year old 55" Sony LCD rear projection that I'm looking to replace. I was looking at the model you linked, but I think I'm gonna finally bite the bullet and go flat panel. I'm going to either get the 58" Panasonic plasma (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-upu4AlCPuDY/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=146350&I=13358PZ750) for $3.3k with my company's purchase program, or wait until next year.
i was looking at a 60 inch samsung plasma, but the cost just might be a little too much for me. i think it was also 5 grand
I wouldn't say you're settling. Rear projection LCD/SXRD/LCOS/DLP can provide an excellent HD picture at larger screen sizes for half the cost.
Yeah. I just saw the old model at BB. It Looks pretty nice....the XBR2 looks even better but those speakers sticking out, it wont fit in my limited space i got for the TV
I have the 55 inch 1080p Sony rear projection that was out last year...can't remember the model #. It has been a GREAT hdtv so far. same issue about price/size. It is for the "family room", and size was definitely more important.
yeah. this is for the living room or game room. I'm look for size. I cant fit up to 60 inches in my limited space. I wish i could fit a 70, but the builders of the stupid house thought they should make a special space for the TV..I think im gonna buy it. It's on backorder at sony.com. hopefully it comes in before Rockets @ Lakers on TNTHD
I am also looking into HDTVs for the first time. I have looked a lot at the Sony A2020 model. I have heard nothing but good things about it. As mentioned earlier, Avsforum.com has a nice thread on that model. From the things I have read it sounds like one should stay away from the A2000 model because of some "green blob" problems. But sounds like most people like hte A2020 model. Plus it is cheaper now that the newer A3000 models are coming out. I am trying to decide about the Sony A2020 model (55") or a Panny plasma (50 or 58").
Finally got my company discount registration for the Panasonic direct store to go through. $2,225 for the 50" 700, or $3399 for the 58" 750...pretty nice prices. Think I'm gonna jump on one
Good thing you started this thread because I was going to start one. What about this one: http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?catg=535&item=373865&prDeTab=1#A If so, what's good about it? If not, what's the bad? Does anybody know of a place, online that can beat major retailers prices?
You're not Richy Rich, but you're willing to drop 3 grand for a TV (which will what the price will be after tax). Come on, sack up!! If you search for a good deal, you can probably get a 52 inch LCD or Plasma for about $500 to $750 more. I doubt that you'll notice the difference in picture size that much. Does your daughter REALLY need those braces, after all?
I don't touch anything with the Sony name on it.. unless its a PS3.. and even that I haven't really touched yet.
I have the 60" Sony SXRD A2020 and it's great. Terrific picture, no annoying speakers on the sides like the A2000 model, and plenty of HDMI and component inputs. And best of all, it's got a reasonable price. With tax and extended warranty, you can pick one up for under 3 grand. For a 55 incher, you could get one for even less than that.
Anybody have any info on the set I posted? What about any good websites to get cheapER TVs than from major retailers?
