arsenio played himself out and the he tried to go all mike wallace on vanilla ice like vanilla was a criminal for what he did. the guy's show just got tired

this was the first late night show I got into... I loved all of the musical guests - like when he introduced me to Snoop Doggy Dogg by having him come on and perform when Doggystyle first dropped... i even watched the "spinoffs" like the Magic Hour and the Keenan Ivory Wayans show and my favorite - Chris Spencer on Vibe's tv show - which i enjoyed until they dropped Spencer and replaced him with the insufferable Sinbad...
Interesting... I watched every episode of the "Arsenio Hall Show" but don't remember this incident that the author of the below article claims caused the cancellation of the show (Farrakhan interview): "Where's the color in Late Night?"
I am not much into late nite talk shows, but as a kid, I loved the Arsenio Hall Show. I used to stay up late just so I could here his opening monologue.
Did Arsenio have mainly Black people on his show? I didn't really watch it when it was on. Arsenio always seemed like a likable fellow, what does he do now?
Apparently we need a "Didn't Watch! LOL" gif. Loved Arsenio and watched it every night, but the one thing I got from RR's vids was that I was reminded of just how damn funny Eddie Murphy was. And this was just after the terrible album release and just before the disaster of "Harlem Nights" and the downfall those events triggered. How sad.
Mostly I think. I do remember Mel Blanc's son on there shortly after he died. That was one of my favorites.
arsenio ushered in blacks to late night, young blacks, rap, etc. that was great starting out but eventually the other shows caught. its was great starting out, he just didn't have staying power
You can't deny that Arsenio basically made the late night talk show war a 3 person conversation. His show will go down in history for that reason alone. I don't believe any other show will ever be able to rival Dave's and Leno's going head to head like his did.
i think he only competed with carson, although I don't remember iff show aired in the same timeslot all over
