I have a very new (right before Christmas) Samsung LCD flat panel TV.

It was working great, then I turned it on this morning and every channel has a pinkish tint, and is very dark, plus no sound is coming out of the TV no matter what I do with the volume.

Did I sit on the control last night and hit a wrong button?

Has anyone else ever seen anything like that?

    It's crazy.

Obviously it's so new it's still under warranty, but I don't want to call about it if it is just something silly or a setting I could fix myself.

I will be able to read this from work, but probably can't reply until after work.

Sounds like the video cable is loose...whatever kind you have. Take them out and put them back in, and make sure they are nice and tight.

If the video cables are not loose.

Unplug it for about 10 seconds and plug it back in.

You accidentally set the TV to romantic/p*rn-date mode.
Samsung has too many features for its own good sometimes.

A TV uses three color channels to create an image: Red Green and Blue

when all three are turned on, and red light, green light, and blue light are mixed together, you get white light. Turn off all the channels and you have no light at all (black).

When the red channel dies, you only have blue and green light mixing together and the picture has a cyan (light blue) tint
When the green channel dies, you only have blue and green light mixing together and the picture has a magenta (pink) tint
When the blue channel dies, you only have blue and green light mixing together and the picture has a yellow tint

Also, when one of the three color channels die, you lose one third of your overall brightness.

    So... bottom line...

I think your green channel has died on that TV, and the TV needs to be replaced.

I don't know why your sound died.

Hopefully its just the green plug connector on your component cable that is dead. But I assume you tried a DVD player, have HDMI, or a gaming console that proves the problem isn't a component cable.

If the above post is the case then that sucks. PITA

If you have a Time Warner/Comcast DVR/converter...you may want to exchange it if it's the only thing that's having a problem.

Check all inputs to make sure they're all looking "the same". If they are, it's the CONVERGENCE. If some inputs are viewable, then check that input's connection.

I messed up my Hitachi 53" when I opened it trying to fix the convergence. :(

Actually, it was a projection big screen, and I messed up one lens' convergence and this Russian dude fixed it, and now it looks like new.

Hitachi 53" HDTV Monitor... including the HDTV receiver... $500... anyone interested?

I assume you didnt mess with the basic calibtations such as color, tint, brightness, contrast, etc.

For some reason my TV manufacturer(Mitsubishi) thought it wise to put a button on the front of the TV called AV reset, in which it will put all those back to factory default. Kids hit that all the time and I have to go back in and put the settings back.

Thanks for your help. It looks like it was from Direct TV's side. Everything is back to perfect.
