Did anybody check this show out on NBC? It's pretty much just like the movie (which I loved) except it takes place in a mythical Texas town instead of Odessa. It's produced and directed by the same guy (Peter Berg) that directed the movie. Filmed in Austin. Mack Brown had a funny cameo appearance as an over-the-top booster. I'm sure he has lots of experience to draw from as an actor. One of his lines was "now, everyone knows you don't need a superstar quarterback to win a championship." Funny to see Mack poking fun at himself. I liked the show. Not sure how they're going to stretch a 2 hour movie into a whole season of TV, but I'll give it a chance. I think there's an encore showing of it tomorrow night on NBC. BTW, the music on the show (like in the movie) is AMAZING. Explosions in the Sky.
I'm about halfway through the first episode. Pretty terrible. "Let's touch God boys, let's touch God." What high school kid says that? Seriously?
Hmmm, I loved the movie. Not as good as the book, but pretty good nonetheless. The show is pretty cheesy. I wish they would have just used Odessa Permian instead of making up some fake school in a fake town. It may have been more believable. I also can't stand the frantic Oliver Stone camera moving technique. It makes me dizzy. The one good thing about the show is the music. (Explosions in the Sky)
just wondering, have any of y'all stayed with the show? I love it and it's one of my favorite shows and I have to catch all of the season 4 episodes online because they're only showing it on DirectTV right now until NBC brings it back pretty soon.
Watched the season already on DirecTV last year. It's another solid season from one of the best shows on TV. So good.
