Just got back from the doctor where I was diagnosed with a staph infection. I have two areas of infection...one right above my pubic region and one on the inside of my right thigh. The area inside my thigh was abcessed and is very painful. I thought they were gigantic pimples and pulled the scab off of both areas with a pair of tweezers and proceeded to squeeze out what was inside. Bad idea. That is how one of them got abcessed. I really thought they were spider bites. I guess I'm fortunate that they weren't as I've heard those are a real pain in the neck. I'm not exactly sure how I contracted the infection. Keep your cuts/scrapes clean and make sure you really use lots of soap when you shower because apparently staph bacteria is everywhere. Just a heads up...
Yeah, there are all type of microbes on your body at all times that can cause major problems. A school up here in my town had to close the entire district because of a very bad staph outbreak a little over a month ago. I don't know what it is but I know I don't want it.
That's what you get for beating me in the semifinals this week. God, what a stupid trade. That sucks man, get better.
was it MRSA? i had that kind of staph infection before. it started as an infected ingrown hair then it got huge. i thought it was a spiderbite as well. the doctor said that the antibiotic resistant bacteria is becoming more and more common. kind of scary. the doc had to end up lancing the crap out of my leg. i would tell people it was a gun shot wound
Doc told me I had cellulitis which from what I understand is a a type of staph. He said that staph bacteria can enter your system through cuts, scrapes, or inflamed (chafed) skin (which I think is what happened to me)...
antibiotics are for wussies. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. let that staph take its toll on you. be a man. throw those pills away. can't have a strong immune system if all you're gonna do is pamper your little itty bitty abscess. i personally like to rub a rusty pipe in my wounds, it speeds up the process.
A friend of mine got one of those on his calf. It was pretty gross. At one point the doctors were packing it with medicated gauze, and he had like 30 feet of gauze in his leg. Nasty!!! Take the meds. Kill that infection, that stuff ain't funny.
Everybody carries staph on their bodies/skin... any cut/opening you have is at risk of getting infected by this if you don't clean or disinfect the area properly.
staph infection isn't a big deal if you catch it. just run your antibiotic regimen, keep the wound clean.. and it really does heal a lot faster if you can keep it open and "breathing" while at home. The region of the body might make that slightly difficult depending on who you live with Of course you want it bandaged during the day due to the clothes rubbing around and all
I had this over a year ago in my armpits. When the abscesses got large, I decided to take loads of concentrated vitamin-C supplements instead of antibiotics and rubbed the area with pure Tea Tree Oil. They went down and disappeared in less than two days. Vitamin C is the shiznit.
Exactly. I think it's most commonly found in your nose. Anyways, it thrives in warm, semi-moist environments (which is why the pubic region is common). Be glad you got it taken care of. You don't wanna mess around with staph.
methicillin resistant staph aureus. basically when the bacteria is resistant to a certain type of antibiotic.
I dont want to scare you but I know 3 people that have died of a staff infection in the last year. They were all older though
