The chances of us landing Lewis or Odom are not that great. Both are franchise players who are part of the future of thier current teams. That is why I think we should try to get Turk. We all know he can hit the 3, he's almost as good a shooter as Stojakovic, and he knows how to run a fast break. I don't know much about his defensive abilities cuz the Kings rely more on offense to win games. The guy is a bench player who could be a good starter if given the chance and I think we should try to bring him in and give him a shot. I don't know how a trade for him could work, maybe KT plus Cato for Pollard and Turk. Imagine this lineup: Wilcox/Pollard Griffin/Taylor Turkoglu/Rice/Morris Mobley/Torres Francis/Norris/Brown
I'm a huge fan of Turkoglu, as he looks to be as good as Peja was, at similar ages. However, Turkoglu does not play much defense. If we had a sturdy defense in place, Hedo would be a perfect fit for us. He's pretty good at dribbling the ball to the bucket, and is a good shooter with a quick release. He should be expendable, though Sac would probably only trade him for a backup SG, or a tough backup big man. We have neither to give them.
He seems like an offensive player. I've been impressed with him, but these European players seem like instant offense and not defense. We need defense, I don't think he would fit that role.
I don't think Sac would ever trade Pollard AND Hedo for KT and Cato. Pollard>Cato Hedo>= (greater than or equal to)Thomas Thomas is the last kind of forward Sac needs, which is why they shipped Corliss Williamson to Det before the year.
I like the thinking of the nuggets getting rid of lots of bad contracts in one fell swoop The only problem is what nba player will trust them after pulling a stunt like this? Who's going to want to play in Denver anyway? If dyess goes, so goes the franchise for many years to come... if he stays, he may himself attract a FA or two.
Denver is a nice city, but the organization hasn't done jackcrap in like 20 years. If I'm a FA, Den is my last resort.
the chances of us getting turkeyglue are about as abysmal as us getting Rashard or Odom. We have nothing Sacramento wants. Our lotto pick is too much, our Toronto pick is not enough, they probly wouldn't want KT. Another Euro player I would like to try to get is the Radman. Couldn't seattle just give us one of their sfs? pretty please?
is that what i said or even implied, cuz i know its not. are you so caught up in making fun of denver that you refuse to read what i write or post anything worth a damn? i said mcdyess can attract a free agent and you think that means denver is the #1 attraction for potential FAs? you sound like a fool right now.
McDyess alone, does not have the drawing power to bring FAs in to play for a team that has a recent history of being bad. The first step to credibility, is to bring in a real coach for once. I know Den will have a lot of cap space after this year maybe, and I know for sure after next year, when Howard's contract is up. I'd expect Den to sign some nice role players here and there, but I would not get my hopes up on getting a star player.
The problem I have with evaluating players on Sacremento, particularly their role players, is that it is difficult to know how much of their numbers are a result of inherent skill and ability, and how much is inflation as a result of the system run in Sacremento. That team starts 5 players that are all good to great passers. That results in excellent ball movement, and much better, and therefore more efficient, shots available than most teams. Turkoglu is a good shooter, he has decent handles and can drive to the basket and finish with regularity, but I wonder what he would be able to do in our stagnant offense as it is. That is not to say I wouldn't want to get a player of Turkoglu's caliber. I think he would be a great SF to play behind Rice until Rice goes down with his inevitable injury every season. But like others in this thread have pointed out, I don't see Sacremento trading Hedo unless they are offered something very good that they think would seriously help them in their playoff push. Honestly, I can't think of what that is. That team seems so stacked at every position, and Turkoglu has his place, so I doubt they would move him.
For Denver, the first step to attracting free agents is KEEPING McDyess and allowing him to get healthy. His contract comes up the very summer they will have cap room (2003, player option) - and if he is going to draw free agents there....they have to convince him to stay there first.
Good point Raven. Sac easily gets the most easy baskets in the league due to the fact that their entire starting 5 can all pass the ball through a keyhole. Moreover, all 5 guys can handle the ball pretty well. Which makes it easy for a guy like Hedo to lay in the weeds and get easy shots off of great passes.
If the Rocks have the 5th or 6th pick in the draft I would trade it for Turkoglu. Turkoglu is the exact kind of SF the rockets need right now. Good shooter and just a notch below Peja in skills. He is also not a dribbling fool like many of the other rocket players. Looking at who will be available it would be a hard arguement to say that Turkoglu would not be better than anything available at that position, and you get the guarantee that you know what you are getting in an established nba player. Some of the Rockets options at the 5th and 6th pick: Gooden - I don't know if he has what it takes to be a star nba player. May become another Ed O'Bannon. Wilcox - Could become McDyess or could become Cato. Jeffries - I just don't think he is star material.
