Ricky Rubio is Morey's #1 target.

He's going to offer Kahn choice of all those picks for the rights to Rubio. Kahn gets to increase his odds of getting John Wall or value for a player that has clearly stated to hiim that he is not going to play for Minnesota.

Rubio makes sense in Houston. He's a generational talent.

Too bad any pick talks with NY are for picks AFTER next year's draft.

If Rubio is indeed the payoff for all of this effort, then I will be very disappointed.

If you were Kahn, and Morey offered you his 2010 pick unprotected, plus choice of the Rox or Knicks 2011 pick top 3 protected, plus the Knicks 2012 first rounder top 3 protected for rights to Rubio, what would you do?

Morey is stockpiling assets because he struck out getting the premier player we need. Getting assets to acquire said player is the next best thing.

I agree it could be with RR in mind, but I think Morey is probably not being so acute in who he is trying to get.

But if I were Kahn and I were offered the Rockets 2011 pick (swap with NY) and then both picks we own in 2012 for Rubio I would have to think about it.

Throw in Aaron Brooks and I'm not sure he can say no.

Throughout all of these trade discussions, I've been trying to figure out if Rubio is somewhere in the Rocket's future plans. Seems like they are leaving as many options open as possible. I would love to see Rubio in a Rockets uniform.

See, that's the thing. I don't see Rubio as all of the payoff. If we acquire Hughes' $13 million expiring, we can ship that contract out with some of our young talent to another team wanting to cut payroll. Perhaps we could still get our hands on Iggy or Kevin Martin. What if we could get one of those guys plus the rights to Rubio?

Morey knows Rubio is a generational player.

What qualifies as a premier player? Caron Butler? Brendon Haywood? Marcus Camby ? Travis Outlaw? Josh Howard? Those are the only players dealt so far of any significance.

Morey is far from striking out. Its right on par for what we have to offer.

if the aim is for Rubio why not just aim at Wall.

I would be 100% behind a Rubio trade. Kid is awesome.

imentioned this in the other thread...ive never been too sure of rubio, but if morey truly was offering brooks/battier for him than he clearly wants him...i guess he could also be targeting Wall, but i havent heard how Morey feels about him.

    Sergio LLull !

Don't forget about this guy. Have you seen that video of the Rockets personnel breaking down why he is a good draft pick?

Plus, has it ever been stated that we absolutely want Ricky Rubio?
i.e. why are you certain it's specifically for RR and not for any other star player out there?

It would be insane to offer three first-rounders for him, particularly the Knicks picks.

See how Yao performs next year, then contemplate offering Brooks and ONE pick for Rubio if it looks like we are going to have to do a bit of rebuilding.

I'd still rather keep the picks and hope for Morey to strike gold in the early 1st round or try to move up in that years draft.

Isn't Rubio under contract for the next 2 or 3 years anyway.

I agree, he's averaging 6 points and 5 assists in the premier euro league at 20 years old. I think he'll be a good point guard but he can't score enough to be a franchise player.
