A lot has been made about Tillerson, allegedly, calling Trump a "fv(%ing Moron" but what is more serious is the context of why he might've said it. This was following a meeting where Trump asked for a ten-fold increase in US nuclear weapons. An increase like that would be logislitically very difficult but also violate several treaties. Trump also called for large increases in practically every other weapon system that again would be logistically difficult but also sink the US budget. Getting irate about things like NFL players kneeling in the long run has little affect but a President who makes impulsive decisions combined with a profound lack of understanding of US military history, logistics, treaties and basic budget is a threat to global safety.

Oh, how adorable. Trump insinuates that NBC should have their license pulled. It’s so easy- I can just pull up the two messages I typed months ago that said “it’s going to keep getting worse” and “I told you so,” and save time. LOL.

Agree on your point on understanding WHY Tillerson might have said that being important, but discussing this as some sort of threat to global safety is a long reach. As you indicate, what Trump seems to have wanted isn't achievable...hence it's not really going to impact global safety in any way at all. Basically, he isn't making 'decisions', he is only expressing a desire. It isn't a decision until it fllows through into budgeting etc. Which Congress has to approve, and won't.

Hawks in China, Russia and elsewhere have reasons to push for ramping up their nukes arsenal in respond to Trump ideas. States do not wait for implementations,. Take years to plan ahead. It is a global safety concern. And Trump is a danger to the world. Seriously, we knew this was a huge risk. I still can't believe people think that hiring the most unqualified, unethical car salesmen to fix a car is a good idea.

Words matter especially when you are the President of the US. Just the threat of a new arms race is enough to put both allies and rivals on edge. Trump's ignorance is protecting us somewhat as he's asking for something unrealistic. That said he is the President and the executive branch including military is obligated to obey him. He could ask for something less that would still be very destabilizing as a US nuclear buildup, even a modest one will most likely be met by a buildup by Russia, the PRC and others. Further with the nuclear genie out of the bottle many other countries who are barely nuclear capable or on the borderline might also be enticed to follow the US's lead.

The problem is that Trump's instincts lead him in a direction that would impact global safety in a major way. Starting a new nuclear arms race is destabilizing to put it mildly. The Doomsday clock is already inching closer and closer to midnight, as it is.
We are actually fortunate that he is incompetent in so many ways.

What I just don't get is why many of our Republican friends don't want Pence in there. Surely they must know that this sort of instability is horrible for our safety. If we begin to increase nuclear arms (which is unnecessary; we have more than enough to destroy the planet) out of sheer dick-measuring, Russia and China will do the same. Iran will restart production, Israel will get uneasy, India and Pakistan will see it as a green light.

This is not 4-D intergalactic Yahtzee. This is stupidity. This is instability that provokes isolated, cornered nations like North Korea to ramp up rhetoric. The man is, indeed, a ****ing moron and we're stuck with him because the GOP is afraid of its own Frankenstein's monster (primary voters) that they've spent the better part of 20 years whipping up into a frenzy to ignore reality. Corker's views are not unique to him, he's just the only one with the balls to say it since he isn't running for reelection.

Would Vice President Pence not accomplish the legislative priorities that conservatives want to see while not pushing our world to the brink of annihilation? President Trump does not know what he is doing militarily or legislatively. Are "liberal tears" really worth this?

What has Trump done besides appoint a member to the Supreme Court? Stop transgender people from serving?? Ok

I do not think many people around him like him. They are there for money, power, resume building etc. He can not get anything done because of how dysfunctional everyone is around him.

His approval numbers are horrid. And dropping in every segment.

My guess is that impeaching Trump and putting Pence in will tear the GOP apart. Not only that Trump and his surrogates have been ramping up rhetoric including calls to arms if Trump is impeached. This might lead to more than just political infighting.

As far as Trump not getting much done yes that is true. He hasn't gotten much done legislatively because he alienates even his allies. Also the courts have slapped down some of his proposals. He is still the Commander and Chief and the DoD is obligated to follow his orders. I don't think Trump will do something as reckless as order a nuclear strike on a whim but there is much much more he could do where his impulsiveness could lead to many problems.

Our Moron-in-Chief has allowed our country to lose it's place as the leader of the free world in less than one year in office.

Crippled international relations with allies and enemies alike.

Dismantled and gutted the Labor, HUD, Energy, Education, Defense, Treasury, and every other government entity.

Rolled back regulations and protections on the environment and consumers.

    Abrogated legal treaties and agreements.

    Sabotaged Obamacare.

    The list is endless.

    MAGA my ass.

Trump just called this 'fake news'... he just wants all the existing nukes in 'tip top' shape not more of them.

    /sigh
