    Short of the Civil War and the period right after, I don't think I have ever seen such consistent hostility between local and federal officials.

    It is also interesting to see both parties absolutely flip there positions when it is convenient, as the democrats are defending state and local rights and the republicans are doing everything possible to expand federal powers.
