This is a good season for the Rockets with the Dream...the legend, in his final season, it's going to be fun to watch since the Rocks are back in the playoffs and once again a threat in the very talented Western Conference. What to watch for: 1. Guards. The Franchise will go neck to neck with Payton for the recognition of being the West's best point guard. Right now the Franchise is better than Kidd because he has a better perimeter and outside range. Look for him to average 7 assists a game this season to go with his 19 points and 5 boards. No doubt he and Mobes will lead this team to the playoffs. There's no doubt Mobes will bring home the 6th man trophy. Shandon will continue to contribute and play consistently as well as Mooch. 2. Rebounding. Beleive it or not no one in the Rockets would average double digits in rebounding but Cato, Dream, Mo will average 9 boards a game. Plus, if Los gets ample playing time we're looking at a solid 8 boards per game. And after this 4 guys, we still have Kenny, Shandon, and 2 of the leagues best rebounding guards, Mobes and Franchise. So look for the Rocks to be one of the best rebounding teams in the West. 3. Defense. The Rocks are going to be a better defensive team compared to what we have last year and a couple of years back. I hate to say this, although the Chuckster is my favorite player, and I miss watching him, he doesn't play good defense. He sucked on defense, that's why we didn't win a championship. But the good news is that the Rocks with their youth, athleticism, agressiveness and one year experience (chemistry), are beginning to understand the concept of team defense. I believe that only a certain no. of tems will score a hundred or more against us this season. 4. Forwards. Mo will certainly play a solid season this year. Look for him to average 18 and 9. Kenny and Los will be solid contributors off the bench. I beleive that our 4 position is so deep that we'll win games no matter who among those 3 you start. The good thing is that Los could play a little bit of 3 and Mo can play alittle bit of 5 so splitting minutes between them should not be a problem. And at last, after so many yaers of inconsistency, Walt will erase all of our doubts and play consistent. He'll be a solid starter for us which would decrease the playing time of Bull and Langhi. 5. Rookies. As I've said in #4, Langhi's might not see ample playing time behind Bull and Walt. Collier will get his minutes, in garbage time. ------------------ President of the Sir Charles Barkley Fan Club
Nice post jaworski2000. Good to see positive optimism as the new season gets underway. Just a couple of things; As good as Francis is, I would hesitate to rank him higher than Jason Kidd at this point. Kidd's defense is supremely better than our Franchise's, he is arguably the best play-maker in the league, and while Stevie a great rebounder for PG, Kidd's the best rebounding point. Of course, when you add experience and leadership qualities that a second year man cannot compare with, Francis still has a way to go before being mentioned in the same breath as GP and JK, IHMO. However, after this season, that could very well change. I'm not sure if I misintrepreted you, but are you predicting Taylor, Dream and Cato to average 9 rebounds each? And Carlos snaring down an additional 8??? Man, I would be happy just to see one of them average that many! Honestly, Houston would have to have the best defense in the league and limite the opposition to a horrendous FG% to achieve such an unlikely feat. Have to give you props for dreaming so high, though. Azim da Dream ------------------ We don't live for the destination. We live for the journey. http://www.clutchtown.com
I think that Taylor and Dream could average 9 boards each, but Carlos will simply not get enough playing time with Kenny the main backup PF. ------------------ 2000-2001 Rockets Game Formulas: End of 1st quarter: "They're playing so well!" 2nd: "What a great game!" 3rd: "Theres no way they can lose now!" 4th: "What the ******* **** happened?!!" RM95 - Thanks for your welcome, I appreciate it. Actually, I think I do have more than 1000 posts. But Clutch - still with a sour mouth in his taste for all Canadians after Glen Grunwald screwed the Rockets with the Stoudamire fiasco - conspired against as a representative of all Canadians. So he cunningly lowered my post count as an act of redemption. I think he even shifted some over *BoobbyFinn's way. But hey, for sake the Rockets, I'm willing to sacrifice.
