It's true. I don't rate him much higher than Carl Landry, and that is only because he has the size the to play center and rebound reasonably well against them.

Hopefully Martin's smarts will allow him to be an average defender when he has a decent defensive frontline behind him and a scheme he can stick to that he has all summer to learn.

I've always wondered how Martin ranked among the worst defenders... Now I know. Pure ass... But boy o' boy, can he score like a ninja... ;)

Al Jeff was a much better defender before the surgery. I expect he will be much better next year. T'wolves guards put a lot of pressure on him, because they can't stay in front of anyone...

It will be better once he figures out the Rockets defensive schemes.

Yes, it's a concern, but let's give him a training camp and a decent center before we haul out the pitchforks.

While I agree none of those players are defensive studs, I'm not convinced they are the statistical worst in the NBA. The system seems to have an obvious preference for guys on bad teams or units (assuming the bulk of Martin's reps are based on how he was in Sac) and I find it hard to believe that there is no mention of guys like Tony Parker or Steve Nash. Since he has proprietary means, there is little to discuss really other than this is one (apparently jobless) guy's opinion since he won't "show his work" as it be.

JVG's teams have not been much better, if any better over the course of his coaching career than Rick Adelman's on the defensive end of the floor. How many times do people need to post stats?

I was going to believe in a second until i read Derek Fisher, David West and Jefferson. These are NOT the worst defenders. Derek Fisher is a hell of a defender...what are you smoking?

Derek Fisher is a good defender?

How many PGs has this guy stopped in postseason matchups (besides Rafer Alston)?

If I recall, he got owned by Mike Bibby, Troy Hudson, Chauncey Billups, Tony Parker, Deron Williams, Aaron Brooks pretty badly.

Derek Fisher is good at alot of things, not defense. The occasional dirty stab does not count as defense.

Russell Westbrook is about to be added to my list.

I forgot Steve Francis, Rajon Rondo.

Better question- which starting PG has not burned Derek Fisher?

i disagree. rondo does a great job defending

btw i dont think he should have made a worst defender list because its not like he can defend anyone better than the guys on the list.

    Here is the real article

    http://aloneinthecorner.com/post/527082424/2010-all-non-defensive-team

    "SG Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin is an interesting player, on offense he has one of the quickest first steps of any SG guard in the league. On defense, not so much. A lot of his defensive inefficiencies are the result of his penchant for gambling and leaving / losing his man. But even that aside, he is simply not physically equipped to be an adequate or average NBA defender.

Kevin Martin is one of the most efficient potent offensive players in the league but yet he has always been a net negative for any team he has played on - the reason for that is his lack of defensive ability and effort.

One of the overlooked aspects of Houston’s acquisition of Martin is how much this will trickle down to Yao and the other bigs. Martin will certainly get his team in offense in the penalty with his ability to draw fouls, unfortunately he does the same on defense."
