Interesting that on a night where the Rockets had 3 starters out and shot over 40 3-pointers, Troy Daniels (whom we trusted in the playoffs) was allotted only a few minutes of playing time. Seeing as to how half the team looked absolutely exhausted in the 4th quarter, it makes me wonder about the quality of McHale's coaching for this particular game.
It appears to me that Terry is getting Daniels' minutes. I suspect that won't change until possibly the trade deadline.
I'm finr with Terry being above Daniels on the depth chart but agree with OP here, game flow and match up dictated that Daniels should have been on the floor more.
This. Daniels was playing behind Harden. That was very little time already. Now Terry is backing up both guard spots. And last night, Terry and Canaan were the only guys who shot well. So Daniels had no place to play.
lol Shame on Mchale trying to win a game. Fan boys of a particular player knows what is best for the whole team. Daniels is a rookie
I agree considering Canaan, Daniels and D-Mo have developed some major chemistry from all their time playing together in the D-League They should have all 3 been on the court together more Canaan is as much of a rookie as Daniels is and look how he is playing and to go further, all the interviews indicated McHale didn't like what he saw from Canaan in practices which is why he chose ISH SMITH above canaan on the depth chart throughout preseason.. Luckily Morey forced McHales hand and made him give Canaan more of a chance/role, if McHale had his way we would have started ISH SMITH tonight I see similarity between Canaans initial treatment and Troy Daniels
McHale likes to play guys he doesn't have to coach. Less thinking is better for him. I agree. 1-2 min for Daniels to spell Harden so that he would be a little fresh in the 4th. It's clear. McHale doesn't like Daniels. That kind of coaching ruins a player's confidence. If we ain't gonna play him, trade him for a big that we badly need, Morey.
Let me get this right, Ish was one of this summer's last signing and Morey wanted Canaan to succeed more so he can tell Les that he just waisted his money for a pre season practice player? Unless I missed a quote which Morey stated this, I keep finding people here who can read minds. You guys could making a lot of money instead of posting here in the forum.
Daniels' offense would've been nice, sure. But the Warriors are a bad match-up for him on the other side of the ball. They're too big and he would've been exploited in the post. Thus, he would've needed help and boom -- open shooters.
Terrible move by McHale not giving Daniels an opportunity to miss a bunch of three's. What is Daniels had played 20 minutes and went 1-6? Probably wouldn't see a thread that said "I wanted Daniels to play more, but I was wrong. Stupid fan." We are going to lose games this year, and things that work most of the time are going to fail in some games.
A bit troubling that Daniels was in all of 5 mins and picked up 2 PFs though. he hasn't looked sharp in the limited time he has gotten and most of that has been garbage time. He does seem to get in foul trouble easily so far this year. I want to see him out there more and last night Mchale should have given him a little more burn, but with his 3% shakey so far and penchant for quick foul trouble, that might be why he hasn't seen the court much yet...
Mchale is terrible coach, when harden is shooting 1-11 from the 3, you sit him then bench instead of giving him 43mins.
You never, ever "sit" a player like Harden because he has missed a few shots. He can easily hit his next 10 in a row. Most of us don't ever see the practices...and that is where the coaches determine playing time. My conclusion is that Daniels has been having terrible practices....and that's the reason his minutes aren't higher.
