MCALLEN, Texas, February 10, 2014 – Rio Grande Valley Vipers guard Troy Daniels has been selected to compete in the Boost Mobile NBA D-League All-Star Three-Point Competition at this season’s NBA Development Dream Factory on Feb. 15. Daniels will also represent the RGV Vipers in the 2014 NBA D-League All-Star Game.

The 2014 NBA Development League Dream Factory Presented by Boost Mobile returns to NBA All-Star festivities on Saturday, Feb. 15, at NBA All-Star Jam Session’s Sprint Arena inside the Ernest N. Four high-flying top NBA D-League prospects will compete in the Boost Mobile NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest, including reigning champion and 2013 NBA D-League Rookie of the Year Tony Mitchell (Fort Wayne). He’ll be joined by first-time competitors Thanasis Antetokounmpo (Delaware), Ra’shad James (Reno) and Darren White (Erie).

Along with Daniels, two-time Boost Mobile NBA D-League All-Star Three-Point Competition champion Booker Woodfox (Texas) headlines the field of six long-range shooters in the 2014 Boost Mobile NBA D-League Three-Point Competition. They will face off against Patrick Christopher (Iowa),) PJ Hairston (Texas), EJ Singler (Idaho) and Adonis Thomas (Springfield).

The four Boost Mobile NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest participants will be judged by a five-person panel, including NBA D-League alum and San Antonio Spurs guard Danny Green along with the winner of the NBA D-League Dream Factory Sweepstakes presented by Boost Mobile, who will travel to New Orleans to participate in the action. The NBA D-League Dream Factory Sweepstakes presented by Boost Mobile, which ran online between Dec. 9, 2013 and Jan. 20, 2014, gave fans from around the country an opportunity to be flown to New Orleans and be a part of NBA D-League All-Star festivities. Green and the lucky winner of the sweepstakes will be joined by NBA greats Otis Birdsong, Dell Curry and Artis Gilmore as judges for the contest. The two-round Boost Mobile NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest allows for each competitor to complete two dunks in Round One for which they will be awarded between six and 10 points from each of the five judges for every made dunk. Dunkers will have one minute to complete each dunk. The two players with the highest composite scores after Round One move on to Round Two, where the time limits and scoring system remain the same. The player with the highest composite score of the possible two dunks in Round Two is crowned the 2014 Boost Mobile NBA D-League Slam Dunk Contest champion.

Each of the six competitors in the Boost Mobile NBA D-League Three-Point Contest will have 60 seconds to sink up to 25 three-pointers from five shooting stations assembled around the three-point line. Four of the stations will have four orange balls (worth one point each) and one multi-colored “money ball” worth two points, while the competition kicks into high gear as the fifth station will consist of five two-point “money balls.” Each competitor will be able to position the all “money ball” rack in any of the five shooting stations.
