Might this increase our chances of getting Shareef? http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/stein/1048471.html "What is it about Reunion Arena? First, in November, Gary Payton threatens to slap Paul Westphal during a game. Then, last week, the Vancouver bench nearly erupts for two in-game scraps. Abdur-Rahim and Harrington almost came to blows at one stage, and 'Reef also exchanged heated words with Bibby. In the sort of dialogue we'd expect to hear on the Lakers' bench, Abdur-Rahim and Bibby vowed not to pass each other the ball. Because this occurred during a humiliating 37-point loss to the Mavericks, and because these two aren't exactly Shaq and Kobe, the spat was that much more ridiculous."
Three way HEAT -- Grizz and Rockets????? heat get Thella and hakeem We get Reef and Mason Grizzle get SCREWED er. . I mean Scraps!! Rocket River ------------------
I saw the Griz / Nets game on TV last night (yes, it was painful), and these are two truly terrible teams. Neither offense has any direction or cohesion at all. But relevant to the thread, I noticed that after the Griz were introduced the starting five huddled up out on the floor and O pretty much refused to get into the huddle, instead choosing to sort of stand outside of it. SAR, disgusted, looked over at O and tried to pull him into the huddle, saying something to him, and O quickly pushed him away and walked back to the bench. At first I thought that they must be playing around a little, even though it looked completely serious, because I can't imagine that sort of open dissention among players *on the court,* but I realize now that the dissent is wide open. ------------------ [This message has been edited by nyrocket (edited January 30, 2001).]
They need to do something with that team quick. That is a situation that is just not working for anyone. They may overtake the Clippers as the worst-run organization. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
Yeah, sounds like a guy we should go after. So a guy almost gets in fights with two of his teammates, in a game, and our response is, "Alright! Let's bring him to Houston!" Meanwhile, our legend expresses his frustration with the team, and our reaction is to forget everything he's done for us and boot him out on the street. Nice twisted way of thinking.
There are always 2 sides to a story... If what NYRocket says is right then maybe SAR isn't the problem. I have seen several reports saying that Othella is very unhappy in Van. and has made it known publicly that he hates playing on that team. If that is the case and SAR was trying to get everyone acting like a team (which is how it sounded to me), then I don't have a problem with the Rox picking up a player like that. CK ------------------ Funniest comparison I have heard lately... Charles Barkley refering to John Lucas as George Jefferson
Not to mention we don't need Othella. KT is the better player too. ------------------ "Hockey is a sport for white men. Basketball is a sport for black men. Golf is a sport for white men dressed like black pimps." -- Tiger Woods
I agree with Castor Oil, TheFreak is blinded by his own agenda, here. SAR is likely not the dissenting voice. Othella was written off the day they drafted Swift. He knows it. Harrington does not pass. Everyone knows that. SAR is probably fed up with it.
Hp jumps to SAR's defense! Now that's a sight to behold! We are talking striclty about placing the blame on deserving shoulders here hp, or have you seen the wisdom behind the idea of getting Reef over here? ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream..." - from the Van Halen song, "The Dream is Over" (Thank you, Freak). Fitting, isn´t it?
Thanos, I wasn't against Shareef. I came home from a Vancouver game with still no impression of the guy, so I started a thread for people to tell me....sheesh TheFreak has a personal agenda to say everyone on the BBS is anti-Dream. He's making things up now. That is what I was talking about.
Well, that clears ALMOST everything up, hp. You still have to spill the beans about "when me get Reef..." have you somehow managed to blackmail clutch into telling you what the deal is...? Hmmm? And about TheFreak, after he failed to adress most of my comments as far dream's persona go in another thread, i have found difficult to pay attention to most of his preaching. "Evil people who hate Hakeem"" gets very OLD, very QUICKLY. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream..." - from the Van Halen song, "The Dream is Over" (Thank you, Freak). Fitting, isn´t it?
I agree with you here HP. Maybe he should take a look at the "How bout a deal??" thread. Most of the proposed trade ideas there don't even involve Hakeem and most still say we can get SAR. I for one would be extatic if we kept Hakeem and still made a quality trade. CK ------------------ Funniest comparison I have heard lately... Thanos, ok I'll clear up the last part, You know I'm very positive about the Rockets, and you know I don't like to speculate. So, I say just be blindly positive and say we are getting the man; don't speculate. Trust me: it is more fun this way, and less stressful. The interesting thing is, Othella and Reef both seem to be nice guys. I wish Othella would have handled his situation in Vancouver with more maturity, but what would you expect from someone who's miserable. In all honesty, though I would love to see Reef in a Rockets' uni, I would also like to see things in Vancouver work out. As much a fan that I am of the Rockets, I'm also a fan of the NBA. And in the best interest in the league, I would hope that all the weaker teams like the Grizz and Clips can put it together and field good teams. As hard as it may be for some of us to admit, the NBA is better off with CWebb staying in SAC, Reef staying in VAN, Vince Carter being a Rap, Stevie being here in Houston, etc. 4. hp, I'm starting to think you have a problem with reading comprehension. Maybe your eyes are getting tired from the endless hours you spend on the board. Or maybe the fumes you inhale from posting on the crapper are starting to have an incremental effect. First you try to turn a complaint about attendance into somehow bashing fans that are at the games, now this. You accuse me of making things up when all I did was quote the article referenced above and tie it to overwhelming sentiment on the board to acquire Rahim. The overwhelming sentiment on the board was also disappointment with Hakeem's behavior. You're the one that's bringing in opinion ("Rahim is not the dissenting voice", "Rahim is fed up with Harrington", etc. -- opinions, NOT facts). There was no opinion in my post. Let me know when you've made the connection.
I may have opinion in my post, but you have exaggeration at the level of personal agenda. Do you comprehend that TheFreak?
Just want to make clear that I would not want Dream to be booted out on the street. I was a bit shocked myself when I read the harsh reactions on the board ("good riddance", etc., because I did not feel like whatever Hakeem did would warrant a reaction like that). I would like to see Shareef on the Rockets, but I don't know if getting Shareef necessarily has to go with losing Hakeem.
