Never saw the original the whole way through, but I'm going to have to check it out. This one looks like it could be great fun. Plus you really can't go wrong with Jeff Bridges.
You shouldn't see it now. You will be underwhelmed. You kinda had to watch it back in the day - it was absolutely unprecedented in its time. The technology used to make it was very, very advanced given the time period. If you're an old fart like me, you'll understand and appreciate that. But if you're young, you'll watch it and probably think to yourself, "What a piece of low-tech junk!"
I kinda agree. Young'ns would not like Tron. It's unfortunate, I guess. One of my favorite movies of all time...
They had the trailer in 3D with the Alice in Wonderland showing. The preview looks like it was snatched in 3d...
Tron was a great movie the first time I saw it in the 80s. Sad thing is that Tron is one of that movie that does not hold up well at all. It's that bad but it was memorable when you I first saw it because it was something totally so different than any movies that I've seen back then.
I kind of agree. I'd say you should not see it if you cannot grasp that special effects didn't used to be a pretty and realistic as they are today, and that it was a process that took years and years and leaps in technology to make happen. If you cannot grasp those two things, then don't see it. If you can, then do. It's still a pretty damn cool movie.
No, I know what to expect. I've seen parts of it when I was young, just not the whole thing. Its more to say that I have seen it before the sequel comes out. One thing, I've never been sure about was, the game came out first right?
Google says they both came out in 1982. I didn't dig any further but I can't imagine that the game preceded the movie.
Wow, this will be my most anticipated movie this year. Scifi is ALIVE BABY!!! Olivia Wilde!! OMFG!! Brunette in tight black leather suit!!
I'll watch and enjoy it but already know it could have been better. An artistic TV commercial director always means an overuse of slow motion. We'll see it used unnecessarily in dramatic scenes, we'll see it ruin action scenes. It could've been great like T2 where they let the original director do his thing.
