Actually Dreamshake, turnovers and missed field goals don't count towards triple doubles.

    LOL! Now that was classic.

I know that Clyde practically got a triple double every week back in his days.

I might get jumped on for this, but I think I would rather have the triple-double than the win. The triple-double means that Steve is developing as a player, but a win against the league's worst team really doesnt mean much.

Triple double - wonderful! Then he throws the ball away twice in the last minute, plus another couple of ill-advised one-on-one moves. I'd rather have the win. Statistics are for losers.

I agree a little bit with all of you...I to would take the Triple Double, as long as Steve learns to keep his teammates active down the stretch, on a few of his 1 on 1 moves he had open players amung the lane...i think that Steve has learned monuments from this game, I would love to hear his post game interview, i hope he realized that he had 80% to do with the result of the game 15% goes to the D, and the other 5% goes to Bullard ( maybe its just me but Id rather see Kenny in the starting line up).....but I think the way this game turned out will teach Steve alot about the NBA.....I think that the Rockets really will have a great game tomorrow....no doubt about it, I knew the Rockets would be flat on D, and sure enough thats what happened..on Paper it looked like a sure win, but tomorrow i think the rockets will asure us that they have developed as a team

I'm happy that Francis got a triple-double, but...

    7 - 20 on FGs (35.0%)
    10 - 15 on FTs (66.7%)
    5 TOs

If it were: Iverson, Marbury, or Kobe we would say something like, "If they're shooting 35%, tell them to keep heaving 'em up." (Especially, if they can't even hit their free throws when we send them to the line.)

What I cannot discount is his 17 rebounds, simply amazing. (Unless 13 of them came on his missed shots... [IMG] )

    Bobby,

    "Stats are for losers".
Have you seen our record lately? (George Brett once had a higher batting average, than we do winning percentage.)

Back in the 80s when the Rockets always were terrible, just watching Akeem get his stats was enough to watch the Rockets play for me.

    thecabbage,

I'm glad Stevie got his first triple double, but didn't A.C. Green get one a couple years back. (I don't think it meant he was finally developing as a player.)

I would rather have the win. If a win against one of the NBA's worst team does't mean much, then what does a loss to that very same team mean?

    -------------------------------

It may seem like I'm just doing a bit of 'fence sitting'. But, what I'm trying to do is say, "Stats are fun, especially when the team isn't playing well." and "Wins mean more than stats, so don't get too happy about them."

(Stats are fun. Thay aren't everything.)

    ------------------
    I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.

    Whoa.

2 days ago Francis blames himself for the loss; discusses how he wasn't motivated enough and tonight he eases into a triple double in the third quarter?

    Whoa.

Do you realize that John Stockton has never had a triple double in his career? Steve Francis had 17 rebounds.

I've said it before, I'll say it some more. This guy will have a quadruple double soon. He'll probably practice on a bunch of triple doubles, learn something about defense, and be the first guard in 30~ years to accomplish the feat.

The biggest whoa - in our 6 game win streak, those first several assists in the first quarter weren't wasted on Matt Bullard. Francis also didn't pick up 17 boards b/c Kenny and Shandon were actually effective, what gives???

All I can say about Stevie is WOW!!!!
His stat line was like CRAZY good, like something out of NBA 2000 or sumthin. I mean, it wasnt like he scored 12 pts, had 10 boards and 10 assists, barely a triple double.
He broke off with 25 pts, 17 boards ( how can a guard get that many boards, Warriors?) and 14 assists? I wish I saw the game. Damn.

Cabbage, I'll be the one who disagrees with you. Stats are nice, wins are what makes champions. First the triple double is awesome, but I don't even think about it since we lost.
I would guess any All-Star in the league could come close to a triple double every night if the wins/losses didn't matter.
Again it is great to see Stevie getting a ton of rebounds (17 is Barley-like!) and assists, but as noted above he had a rather mediocure shooting night.
    Congrats to Stevie!

No . . . We did not Win

    I understand the Disappointment
but d*mn must you Piss on his Accomplishment?
    Why Dismiss it?
    Why belittle it?

It's not like we threw a Pass from the other
end he tossed it to Hakeem in the Final seconds
of a game to get it!!!!

    7-20 FG % is bad
BUt I saw him get hacked to hell.
And driving the lane got him the Assists.

It's one thing to be a *realist*
and another to be just a Wet blanket
for the hell of it. . .

    WAY TO GO STEVE!!!

then again .. . .You tankers should be happy
    anyway.

    No pleasing some people.

I won't deny the statistical line and general offensive performance of Francis - it was an awesome - buts lets face it - Steve's defense was LACKING, to say the least. At one stage during the game, a guy sitting behind me yelled out "at least put your hands up Francis" referring to Blaylock scoring over him easily. Maybe Francis just tries to do too much at both ends, but it sure seems that he is loose when following his man around high picks. I would gladly trade 10 of his rebounds for a few more defensive stops on his own man.

To rub salt in his wounds, Blaylock scored the decisive 3-pointer in Steve's face.

A breakthrough game for our developing franchise player, plus a double step (our loss, their win) toward the lottery. It's a floor wax AND a dessert topping! Relax and enjoy it.

Stevie is like a jack rabbit out there. no matter what he is doing, he is hopping. He loves to rebound and mix it up underneath.

Give him Cato and Rogers, and we would have seen a highlight reel of slams off his drives, too.

With all that, I'm sitting there in my seats getting slightly bored with 4 minutes left because there is no defense to watch when GS comes to town, and I find myself criticizing Francis for 4 missed FTs down the stretch.

An overconfident fan wanting perfection, turns humbled in a matter of minutes. I want my Rogers and Cato back!!

Along the lines of Dreamer's point, if a win against the league's worst team isn't worth much, why is a triple-double against the league's worst team worth so much?
