Round-trip plane tickets to Houston from Sacramento: $260. Rental car for 5 days: $500. 3 tickets vs. Lakers (1/17): $750. 3 tickets @ San Antonio (1/20): $600. 3 tickets @ Dallas (1/21) : $600. Hotel rooms for 5 nights: $750 Seeing Yao Ming take on some of his toughest opponents in the league, priceless. Just planning my itinary right now. Just noticed, from looking at the calender, this awesome looking road-trip candidate in January. It spans Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so you might only have to take off one day to make this fantasy tour fit in your schedule. For the out-of-town Rockets/Yao fans out there, this might be worth a look! Ok, on to the self-serving part of the message... I'm planning the trip for 3 people. Unfortunately, most ticket brokers are only looking to sell 4. Anyone interested in buying ONE great ticket to the Rockets/Lakers game on 1/17 for whatever price I end up paying for it? Right now, I'm looking at something in sec. 120, row C, for $250.
Cool! Darn, wish I could afford these things. I live in the SF bay area. Would love to go to an actual game with the families. But the ticket price is too much for us. Meanwhile, I will be just satisfied with my $179 NBA League Pass.
hi, If you want to have a cheap trip at Los Angeles, here is the way: 1) Give a price $20 per day/full-size/branded rental car company from priceline.com if you will stay other 3 days. 2) Give a price $40 per nts/2-3 star hotel at priceline.com. 3)Don't try to bid a air ticket from priceline.com. You can go to hotwire.com or orbitz.com to get a round-trip ticket around $200. This is the advice for who wants to come Los Angeles. You can do the math. Enjoy yourself
Priceline's a good idea for a rental car. I'll take a look. And also FYI, the ticket prices I'm lookin' at are excessive since.. well, as long as I'm taking time off of work to do this, I'm going to get the best seats within reason. There are plenty of seats available for all 3 games in the ~$50-100 per ticket range. Give it some thought!
I can understand Heech's attitude. There's been a few times when we've almost not done or bought something due to price constraints, but finally said "Ok, One time!" We've enjoyed each of those times. For those of you who wouldn't want to spend that much on tickets, the lower rows(a - e) of the upper sections(200+) are excellent seats in the $25 to $50 price range.
I just had to bring this thread to the top again. I have tickets in section 120 row C (3 rows behind the Rockets bench?) against the Lakers. Section 109 row 23 @ the Spurs. Section 120 row V @ Dallas. The last seats aren't as good... I decided the trip wasn't quite 'priceless' after all. Part of the reason I bring this up, though, is that I still have an extra ticket for each of these games. I had to buy them in packs of 4. Anyone interested in buying them at the price I paid? And, yes, since this thread probably belongs in classifieds... but here's my good duty of the day to justify my actions. Check out the following eBay auction (not mine!), where there are plenty of cheap ($29.99) tickets available to the Shaq/Yao show-down, Jan. 17th. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1943665489
LOL, more like I had no idea how much a rental car would be. I never understood it; last few times I spent weekends out on the road, I ended up paying like $200 for 2-day rentals. Figured it'd be this much again. But, the car I just booked turn out to be $75 for all 5 days! Granted, that's before they drain you for all the extras... but, yea. Maybe they make everything bigger in Texas, except car rental fees.
