We have 3 Crepe Myrtles in our yard that are suffering from powdery mildew. Can anyone suggest a good fungicide or treatment? It looks like this.

It started a few weeks ago and I pruned off the branches on the one tree that were affected, but it continued to spread to the other trees. I didn't want to use any chemicals, but it is really spreading fast. Any help would be appreciated.

You try using Baking soda and water?? About 1oz of Baking soda per gallon of water will do the trick about 3 times a week, if you want to go the NON-Chem route... also, I like a brand called Seven fungicide (for the Chem route)... not sure if they still make it, but it worked really well for me..

google baking soda for fungal diseases.

Even milk helps. Neem (natural plant oil) would prob knock it out quickest.

Be very careful applying anything to the leaves once temps exceed 90 degrees though.

I have the same problem with the three crepe myrtle's at my house. I've tried various fungicides but none seem to work. I think it's just a problem with the trees not getting enough sunlight. I have some huge oaks in the front yard that provide too much shade.

Will baking soda and water work? How do I do it? This is only my second spring at this house and I've never have to deal with it before.

Will the Seven brand say that it can be used for Crepe Myrtles on the label? I think fungicide might be needed this time.

Yeah shade was the culprit. We have a huge pine covering the one that got sick first.

You need a good dose of Rush's "The Trees":

    "The Trees"

There is unrest in the front yard
There is trouble with the trees
For the myrtles want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

    The trouble with the myrtles
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the myrtles
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the front yard
And the fungus all has spread
    As the myrtles scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the myrtles formed a union
    And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
    By hatchet, axe and saw

    :D

Sorry...saw a Rush opportunity and couldn't pass it by.

How are pesticides going to help that?

Trim the pines & get some plant oil.

I dont know how bad you have it, but I have used it for mild to moderate problems and it worked great... I would take 1oz of the baking soda and desolve it in a gallon of water and fill it in one of the "DIAL-A-SPRAY" liquid dispensers that you can get at Lowes that attaches to your hose... when you go to spray the trees, turn the % up to as high as it will go to keep the most water you can from mixing with the premix.. I know the "Seven" most people are thinking of is also a insecticide, but another company used to make a fungicide called "Seven" and it worked really well, I havent had to do yard work in many years so I'm not sure if it's even still on the mrkt.. hope that helps..

Also, I did this three times in a week to knock it out for good..
