Long story short, I was in an auto accident and suffered a serious laceration on one of my arms. I was recommended a product called Maderma claiming it would reduce the appearance although its getting mixed reviews after a google search. If anyone has had any experience with scar treatment products and could recommend one, it would be appreciated.

Black seed oil. Could take days to weeks depending on how bad the scar is but it will leave you scarless.

Oh and you're most likely going to find it at an Indian or Arab store.

If the scar is capable of being reduced, Mederma will reduce it.

Depends on the scar though; how deep/thick it is, etc.

I got a pretty gnarly scar on my arm from a Bike crash.

Use Vitamin E. Buy the gel caps, poke a hole in them and rub the liquid into your skin.

    Your loss.

I had a motorcycle accident few years ago. Scratched up both elbows and both sides of my hip bones. Used this for about 2 weeks and all the scars were gone. Those scars usually never go away.

I was told there wasn't any indication of deep scarring and they were able to dermabond the skin and avoid stitches.

Might as well give this a try. Know any shops in Houston where I can pick this up?

I only know Indian stores in SW area. Try stores like Awami Markaz, Royal, Makkah Mart. Just search online and you should find a lot of places. If you get a phone number try calling them first.

You probably don't want to hear this, but the best thing you can do is give it time. Don't let the appearance of your scar get into your head too much. Try some products...sure. But don't get upset if they don't work and don't feel the need to fork over a bunch of cash repeatedly to desperately find something that does work. People get scars - it's not embarrassing.

Go ahead and take the advice in this thread, but just remember to not stress over it too much. I had a relatively minor scar that pissed me off for a number of years and I finally stopped caring and here I am many years later and the scar is barely noticeable and having it had virtually no impact on my life. It's just a scar.
