http://www2.standard.net/standard/sports/jazz/55921/ Hansen plots a return to NBA ranks Monday, July 11, 2005 By Jason Franchuk Daily Herald OREM -- There's a chance Travis Hansen won't have to speak so much Spanish next basketball season. The former BYU standout and his agent say they're in talks with various NBA teams, which could allow Hansen to return to the United States after a year of playing professionally in Spain. "He helped himself," agent Bill Duffy said. "And I think our strategy has been effective. He went overseas, played a lot for a very good team ... I think there's a very strong possibility he'll be back in the NBA next year. I'm not a percentage guy, but I think he has a strong chance." Hansen, 27, was reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday to be playing in an NBA summer league team representing the Denver Nuggets. That news turned out to be false. Hansen planned on suiting up today through July 15 in Las Vegas, but opted to sit out as he rests sore, overused heels that have created pain in the arches of his feet. Duffy called the injury "very common" by basketball standards, and said his client has taken cortisone shots. Keeping off the court, Duffy said, would help more than anything. The year spent away from home, after an initial pro season with the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, has apparently kept the 6-foot-6 shooting guard on some potential free agency wish lists back home. Hansen said teams like Houston, Denver and the Los Angeles Clippers have expressed interest. He can sign with any team. But the summer league is out. "First we have to get him healthy," Duffy said. "After that happens, we can go from there to get him some workouts with teams that are interested." Hansen returned to Orem last weekend after a long season in Spain. He helped lead his team to the prestigious Euroleague Final Four. Tau Ceramica lost May 8 at Moscow in the championship game to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The former second-round NBA pick (2003) scored 13 points. Calling the experience "a great one," Hansen said he would not return to the NBA for a similar situation to which he left. He wants to play. In one NBA season for miserable Atlanta, 2003-04, he averaged three points and 12.4 minutes while playing in 41 games (four starts). According to the Tau team Web site, his stats rose to about seven points in nearly 18 minutes. He credits an improved jump shot and overall offensive prowess to playing more. Anyone know anything about this guy besides what was said above?
The guy we need to be looking at is Eddie Badsen, he's playing on the bulls summer league team and doing very well. He was projected to get drafted in the second round based on his defense alone (compared to Artest, strong like a bull) but his offense needed work. Read his summer league report, its very good, although it seems the bulls have seen this and will sign him to a multi year deal now. go to draftexpress.com for the report
I remember Hansen, actually... from what I remember, pretty good shooter, not-so-awesome handles and perimeter defense for a guard. Whatever, if he's cheap and is JVG approved...
