So that's it. I quit my job, shook my pockets for any loose change, and I'm taking off to travel for as long as I can. I'll be starting in Beijing (but high-tailing it down to Vietnam for warmer comforts during the winter) and heading back up to western China in the spring. Other that that, there are no plans. I'm hoping to hit East Asia, India/Nepal, Middle East (UAE, Red Sea area), Turkey, Africa and S. America in the next 1-1.5 years. Any suggestions on places that you've gone to and really enjoyed? I won't be hitting Europe or Oceania since I've already gone there (S. Island in N. Zealand and Byron Bay in Australia is highly reccommended).. but any stories or suggested routes (i.e. Ladakh to Tibet) would be appreciated. I'll probably have a blog also and can only keep up with the beloved Rockets through this site. Thanks!
Wow, sounds like fun times ahead. Borneo is also a good place to visit, especially up in the north east around Kota Kinabalu. My only other advice is don't take or carry any illegal substances while traveling. The penalities are tough in some places.
Becoming part of the criminal underworld in order to fight crime, eh? You'll need a suit with a symbol. What do you fear cur.ve?
if youve got time, nothing better than travelling by bus/train across the continents... start in london, end somewehre in china.
Are you going by yourself? I would just be sure someone in your extended group knows what your short-term plans are about where you are going, etc. It's like going for a hike on your own - always let someone know where you are going, just to be on the safe side.
Since you can obviously afford to spend the next 1 1/2 years travelling around the world, can I have your old job?
