So, I've been tasked with putting together one of those "This Is Your Life" photo montages set to music for my father-in-law's 70th birthday.

The mother-in-law insists that there be a section in the video with just pictures from their vacations. So I need music for that section.

I had considered "Vacation" by the Go-Gos, but after listening closely to the verses realized it was totally wrong for a 70-year-old. Right now I'm thinking of Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" and "Fly Me To The Moon."

Any other suggestions for songs I can use for this segment? It'll run about 5 minutes, so it'll probably end up being 2 short songs.

Also, it needs to be pretty lively and preferably build up to a crescendo. Mellow tunes like Simon and Garfunkel's "America" need not apply. ;)

I did one for my folks' 40th wedding anniversary a couple years ago, and used "Come Fly With Me."

How bout "Holiday Ro-oh-oh-oh--oh-oh-oad" by Lindsey Buckingham?

And "Are You Ready for the Summer?" from the Meatballs soundtrack.

Staying on the Sinatra idea, how about My Way? After 70 years I think he can clame it.

Great suggestions -- keep 'em coming!

FYI, I'm hoping to find something other than a Sinatra tune since I'm already using "New York, New York" elsewhere in the video. Of course, having more than one tune by Ol' Blue Eyes isn't the end of the world.

    Keep the ideas coming!

Dude. He's 70. My dad is 60, and, believe me. He can take it.

Don't be vulgar, necessarily. But I think he can handle the go-gos...

I fail to see the logic -- because your dad can handle GnR, it automatically means anyone else in the same age bracket can? Trust me -- I know this group and it would be just plain stupid to put in there.

As for the Go-Gos, it's so much about "handling" it as it is that, when I listened to the song, I realized it's not about going on vaca at all. It's about unrequited teenage love. I was just hoping to find some songs that are actually about going on holiday and don't just have a few throwaway lines in the chorus (i.e. "Vacation").

How dare you disagree with FFB? For shame. :D

Truckin'-The Grateful Dead. Wait, don't think that'll work either. :)

Ha, that actually sounds perfect for w_o_k's situation. Good choice.

What about Kokomo by The Beach Boys. Or maybe I Get Around.

OK, y'all are rolling now! This is great stuff. So many of the pics are from random islands in the Carribean, so Kokomo could work for at least part of it.

Joshfast -- Last night I couldn't remember the Johnny Cash song, and that's the one I was thinking of! Thanks!!!

RM95 -- Still bummed you never moved to Philly. ;)

All the other suggestions may work, too -- thanks again. And keep 'em coming!

(The Clutch BBS never fails to come through -- no matter how random the dilemma...)

What program are you using for the montage? Is it difficult to do?

    Very cool project.
