Anyone been? I'm considering going in about 10 days, not sure if it's any different than the beach life in Dubai or Morocco or Thailand. Is it all about booze or is there anything else to do over there?
Mathloom, I've never been there, but it's a major destination pushed by Israeli travel agents as a low budget vacation. The popular getaways are the Greek islands, Turkey, Sinai, and Varna, Bulgaria. I've been told the Greek islands are very touristy, Mykonos especially, in the drunk English chav kinda way. It also draws the lowest common denominator of Israeli society, which is why I passed on a chance to go. It just sounds like a tourist trap to me, but then I'm also the kind of guy that wouldn't be caught dead in a place like Ibiza. I could be wrong though -- I've never actually been. I'd consider Turkey as an alternative, especially since the recent Gaza controversy promises that it will be free of the Israeli budget tourists, won't be as crowded, and could probably use the business.

I personally just got back from Mykonos and Santorini. I don't know if you can really do 10 days in Mykonos. If I were you I would spread that time between a bunch of islands in the area rather than stay at one. My assessment: Mykonos - We did 3 nights there. Granted we went a couple weeks before the peak season where it starts getting crazy and party central. The island has a lot of beaches but remember that these beaches are not huge long beaches that you might be accustom to. They are smaller beaches with more mixed rock and sand then pure white sand beaches. There is a lot of nightlife in Mykonos if you take advantage of it. Santorini - We also did 3 nights there but this is more of a chill romantic spot for sure. The views of the Caldera (Volcano) are amazing. You want to stay on that side if you do go there. Not the Beach Side. All the hotels are built in to the side of the cliff so it's truly amazing. It only has 2 cities that are really worth visiting. Fira & Oia. Both of them are good for shopping and browsing but there isn't much to do after that so definitely not a place to stay for a long time. To be honest if you can do 3 nights in each one and do another 3 nights in Turkey or something you will love it a lot more. 10 Days in Mykonos, unless your going there to party and try to meet a ton of girls during peak season would honestly be a waste in my eyes. Even if that is your cup of tea, I still can't see you wanting to be there for that many days at all. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
There are good number of gay's there that party there but that's definitely not the only type of partying.
I went there for a day 2 years ago, it was a fun day trip, I may have spent the night ifi went there again. I'm not sure what you are gonna do there for 10 days, I think you would have a hard time finding stuff to do there fore more than 3 days. It is a beautiful island, but pretty small. I would take some day trips to other islands like corfu
