Doesn't bug me, but last night's trash talking seemed quite silly considering how one-sided the "battle" was.
agree, even today, at the park. Mostly anywhere you play bball, there always trash talking. I wish yao with trash talk more.
some people blame the Laker's loss to Ron Artest's trash talking. Let me note that Kobe ALSO was trash talking. And here's some notable trash talkers LARRY BIRD MICHAEL JORDAN --- I guess if they had soft fans they would dislike those guys talking trash too

u just named some of the greatest tinman. ron isn't even an all-star. it's like rafer alston talking trash to chris paul. u serious?
i'm saying its part of the game. not trash talking back is just saying, i'm scared. its a mental game.
remember when anthony randolph mocked yao after a dunk, what did yao do? did he trash talk back? did yao seem scared? no, he went back and murked the rest of that team the rest of the way. i don't mind trash talking. in fact i love it. but it's usually best when you can back up what you say or else you just look SILLY. and ron looked SILLY last night. it's like in a streetfight, one dude straight up murks the other. yet the loser still can stand up and trash talk. that's just awkward. and again, you're only scared by what you show in actions. had ron come back and defended harder, score some buckets, trash talking wasn't needed. actions would have spoken a thousand words.
It depends on the player. In the example I mentioned earlier, Dream talked mess to Mario, but didn't say much to the Spurs as he eviscerated Sailor Dave. And sometimes, the guy doing the trash talking is the scared one. It is interesting to me that, in general, it seems perimeter players are bigger trash talkers. How many elite centers were trash talkers? Shaq maybe, though it seems he does most of his talking to the media and not so much on the court. I don't know about Wilt. Russell was not. Jabbar was not. Dream was not. Parrish was not. I don't recall Walton doing a lot. Or Ewing or Robinson or Lanier or Artis. Paultz no, Moses probably... though he doesn't count because most of his opponents probably couldn't understand him.
you are good example of a person who can't trash talk. if don't like my thread why are you on it like tyrone biggums on crack?
I prefer players let their game do the talking. If a player needs to talk during a game, let it be something constructive like communicating with teammates. Players that talk trash are making it about themselves instead of the team. Unless they are a superior individual talent, that's not helpful.
All things being equal, love it. See: Reggie Miller & Spike Lee See: Charles Barkley vs 94-95 Rockets I dont like it when the officiating is in your back pocket. See: Lakers vs Kings
