I just saw some of it on the news....and I have to say it looks cringe worthy to me. That stuff might have been amazing 80 years ago, but these days it just doesnt have the same impact. Thats my opinion anyway.
never really liked King Kong. the big monkey was never as cool to me as the Big G. Godzilla was always better. u guys should see Godzilla: Final Wars. I hear its awesome, i was told u get to see the real Godzilla lay the b****slap on that lame american iguana they tried to pass off as Godzilla in the american version.
The feedback I am hearing most is that people didn't really care for the Trailer. I enjoyed it & think it will be cool. You know WETA is going to touch up those effects nicely in 6 months from now. Not saying that Peter Jackson is infallible, but you know everyone here will probaly see it opening weekend. By the way, I remember that I was TOO impressed with the first Lord of the Rings trailer myself...
No ****! The Pink Panther, Herbie the Love Bug, King Kong, even the freakin' Bad News Bears!!! What the hell?
seriously, does anyone have any original ideas?? even if it's writing a new twist into an old story, we're seeing just a huge regurgitation of old ideas. Bewitched?? are you freaking kidding me???
I think that had a new twist to an old story. I'm looking forward to Bad News Bears. Billy Bob's in it, Linklater directed it, and the peeps who wrote Bad Santa penned the screenplay.
I was looking forward to a Kong remake since the last one sucked and we have the technology today to make an amazing looking Kong. Also, Pete Jackson directing is a good thing to me considering how well the LOTR movies did. I just didn't get a good feeling from the trailer. I think they should have teased us some by not showing so much, especially since i'm pretty damn sure WETA is still hard at work on the effects and it isn't fair to show off so much before it's been polished. I do agree that this has been the year of the unoriginal ideas and could be part of the reason for the lack of box office this year. I was obviously all for this new Batman movie, but I'm sure the average movie goer is thinking "again?" But coming up we've got War of the Worlds (different but still technically a remake), Dukes of Hazzard, Dark Water (another Japanese horror remake), and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I hope they are good and entertaining movies, but I hope after this year they stop with the overkill of remakes.
Willie Wonka, War of the Worlds, The Longest Yard, Dukes of Hazzard, Bewitched, Charlie's Angels (both of them), Hulk, Spiderman, Batman, where does it all end? Seems like every movie that comes out is either: -Remake of another movie -Remake of a comic book series -Remake of a Sit-Com Thank GOD for George Lucas!
Mr. and Mrs. Smith Cinderella Man Crash Ladies in Lavender Layer Cake Madagascar Rize Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room Sahara Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants Kingdom of Heaven Kicking and Screaming Heights Mad Hot Ballroom
Let's face it, you're not going to find anything original going to the local 30 screen megaplex. Most of the big hollywood films are based on SOMETHING that was done before, either a story, book, or film. Even Pulp Fiction (my personal favorite movie of all time) was based on a short story. The most original stuff you'll find is at the indie theaters...
Rocketman95, I don't think anybody is saying that every movie is a remake, just that there is a surplus this year. Funny thing about Mr. and Mrs. Smith though. There was a tv show of the same name about a married couple who were both spies. My guess is that the idea for that came from True Lies. Mr. and Mrs. Smith could be considered a remake of Prizzi's Honor though.
Possibly. But it's not that hard to find original stuff. And not "every movei that comes out" is a remake, comic book, or television show. Not to mention, if it's good, what does it really matter? So what if Batman's a remake, reimagining, or whatever. Doesn't change the fact that it's an awesome movie.
