he jumped shark a long time ago with a string of such classics as xXx, knockaround guys, and a man apart.

I don't know. I kindof liked XXX and Knockaround Guys ( which he was not the main star, just the tuff guy).

I think for him to grow as an actor , he needs to try some parts like this.

He's been in a few mediocre-to-crap action movies.

    I don't consider him a star. He's a notch above the Rock.

The Rock has more talent in his pinky compared to Vin.

This could get him a second RAZZIE. Two thumbs way down...

I have to agree with that. His role in the movie Be Cool looks to be very good.

I disagree, at least where the bigscreen is concerned. I enjoyed Vin's roles in Pitch Black and Fast and the Furious(hell, even his bit part in boiler room) more than anything the Rock has done yet.

Not that that would be a huge feat to surpass ...

I think The Rock is just getting started. Everyone thinks Vin is a douche already and I know I dont care to see anything Vin does. The Rock has that "it" factor. If you had ever seen him in wrestling you would know it. There are plenty of Rock haters but even they would agree that the guy is talented as all hell. I havent watched wrestling in years and I'm not just throwing all of this out there becauase I'm a wrestling freak. The dude has some serious talent and while I agree that he hasnt been able to showcase it yet, The Rock will do some good work.

I would never include the words "wrestling" and "talent" in the same sentence. Juiced up, oiled up, spandex-wearing, roid-rage actors yelling at each other and pretending to engage in sport. That's not to say that the Rock isn't talented, because he might be, but I don't think screaming catchphrases to throngs of fans from the center of a wrestling ring qualifies as a demonstration of acting talent.

I agree he's talented. He is/was a great heel in wrestling, and I think that takes skill. But so far of the movies I've seen(outside of the rundown, haven't seen enough of that one to judge yet), he's been a stiff. I don't think he has the ability yet to pull off what Vin did in the movies I mentioned. We'll just have to see whether or not he can get a good role that fits him in a quality movie.

I think The Rock has more potential. He seems to have some natural ability. I remember when he hosted SNL a few years ago...he just has that certain something that makes him stand out.

It's really going to come down to the movies he picks over the next few years.

I can't believe I've gotten myself into a discussion of who is a better actor: Vin or The Rock.

Dude, for a wrestler to get the fans on his side and gain the respect he does, it takes a great amount of charisma and skill. Don't hate.

I'm sure there is charisma, and skill. But I was responding to a comment about acting talent. George W. is a charismatic guy too, but I don't think he's the next DeNiro or Tom Hanks. Different skill sets.

His best work was in Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

Unfortunately that was a video game.

A lot of people don't remember this but he was in Saving Private Ryan. And flame all you want, but I thought A Man Apart was a pretty good movie.

But you are right, the Rock has more charisma.
