I couldn't help but laugh, but I also can't help but think this is like 6 or 7 years too late. family guy dominates the simpsons and they've already had a movie released, albeit straight to dvd.
It's pretty funny that they make the comment about doing traditional 2-D animation, and IMMEDIATELY show a CG-assisted shot.
I don't know why everytime the Simpsons is brought up someone has to bring up Family Guy as well. Family guy doesn't dominate the Simpsons at all- the Simpsons STILL gets higher ratings week in and week out: Ratings: Treehouse Of Horror XVII 10.43 Million! POSTED November 7th 2006 This year's postponed Halloween outing managed a healthy 10.43 million viewers, despite the program's early leak to the internet last week. Comparatively, last year's Treehouse Of Horror fared 11.6 million viewers. Fox came in at fourth place overall as well as among adults for the night, and coupled with American Dad (7.77 million) in the 8pm hour, Fox stayed in fourth behind NBC's Football, EM: Home Edition, and The Amazing Race. Family Guy at 9 improved on American Dad's audience, with 8.46 million viewers. Ratings: Please Homer Don't Hammer Em POSTED September 26th, 2006 COMMENTS (10) spacer The Simpsons increased its ratings slightly from last week to begin the month-long break between new episodes. Please Homer, Don't Hammer 'Em scored 9.72 million viewers, impressive figures, but still short of the season premiere (11.5 million). The Simpsons and American Dad (8.39 million) were in fourth place for the 8:00pm hour, behind EM: Home Edition, Football, and The Amazing Race. Overall, Fox were fourth for the night but its cartoon lineup including Family Guy (9.65 million) helped the network hit third place among adults 18 - 49. The next new episode, Treehouse Of Horror XVII, airs November 5. Ratings: The Mook, The Chef, The Wife & Her Homer POSTED September 12th, 2006 COMMENTS (3) spacer The highly anticipated season premiere of The Simpsons managed to gather 11.5 million viewers on Sunday night up against some stiff competition. While coming fourth behind Sunday Night NFL on NBC, Path To 9/11 on ABC, and CBS's 9/11 documentary, The Simpsons still pulled healthy numbers, up on last year's season premiere Bonfire Of The Manatees (11.1 million). FOX finished third overall for the night, but was boosted to second position behind NBC among adults 18 - 49 with help from Family Guy (10 million) and American Dad (8.9 million). The Family guy movie was pretty bad too I thought, I don't think it would have done well in a nationwide release. People are also getting worn out of the whole insert random cutaway joke as well- South Park nailed them pretty well on it. This Simpsons movie should be great, all of the classic era writers got back together to make this movie so I have high expectations. I still can't believe there is going to be a Simpsons movie released in theaters-- I can't wait!
At this point, The Simpsons Movie is not a must-see in the theater; unless the trailer really shows something special I'll be really skeptical. The show hasn't been good for 10 years and it's popularity has definitely waned.
I agree. The Simpsons is now on the decline although not a bad show. They should have made the movie while it was in its prime
I didn't ask you about the ratings...ratings does not a show make. one of the most watched tv shows ever is survivor...nuff said.
That may be true, but at this point, at least in my opinion, Family Guy is a better show. But, I cannot stand American Dad
At some point, the Simpsons went from refreshing creative humor to a bunch of slapstick random crap, which really isn't funny in cartoon form. And all those celebs that have special appearances on the show aren't very good either.
summed it up perfectly. they went from intelligent and creative forms of humor to cheap laughs and constant "guests" in a vain attempt to keep things fresh. the simpsons have been declining since before i graduated high school, and they were downright awful for a few seasons... they've actually improved slightly from about 3 or 4 years ago, but i rarely watch anymore. simpsons seasons 3-8/9 are pure comdeic genius, however. i dont know if there's a bad episode in that entire span. if they can recapture just some of what they had in those seasons the movie should be pretty decent, but i'm not holding my breath.
Simpsons is terrible and has been terrible for a while now. Its saddening to buy Seasons 4-8 and see the *incredible* writing that once graced that show. "If its tangy and yella, youve got juice there fella! If its thick and brown, your in cider town!" Now it is soooooo drab and boring and predictable.
I agree, they have improved a little the last season or two. But for seasons like 12-16 were just crap. It really turned me off the Simpsons and I no long watch regulary. I'm glad to see some better shows recently although still not as good as the earlier seasons. I feel kind of the same way about South Park. Most of their episodes are still great but I dont like to ones where they focus it on celeberties or politics. I enjoy them more when they are episodes just about kids being kids and simpler plots.
im the biggest simpsons fan, but it fell off hard after season 12....the movie is gonna suck. im not gonna watch just like id ont watch the new epsidoes.....i dont wanna see my show like that
i'll say 3-10 are the best.....11-12 are watchable with some funny parts 13- whatever they're on now is garbage
