What's the last good movie Murphy has made? Not counting Shrek 1 and 2.

Too much CGI IMO for a comedy movie.

Eddie Murphy as a fat black woman, that sounds familiar for some reason.... oh yeah, he already did that for the Nutty Professor movies in small (ahem) doses. Then there is Martin Lawrence as a fat black woman for the whole time in the Big Momma's House movies, oh yeah, and Tyler Perry as Medejah. I think we have just about enough guy as fat black women movies. In fact, with all of those plus Mrs. Doubtfire, Sorority Boys, Tootsie, etc. I think there have been quite enough guy playing a woman or playing a guy pretending to be a woman movies.

Here's a list of the movies made since Nutty Professor. They say Dreamgirls is supposed to be a hit, but I don't think he's the lead star of the movie.

    # Norbit (2007) (post-production)
    # Dreamgirls (2006) (completed)

    # Shrek 2 (2004) (voice)
    # The Haunted Mansion (2003)
    # Daddy Day Care (2003)
    # I Spy (2002)
    # The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002) ...
    # Showtime (2002) ....
    # Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001)
    # Shrek (2001) (voice)
    # Nutty Professor II: The Klumps (2000) ...
    # Bowfinger (1999)
    # Life (1999/I)
    # Holy Man (1998)
    # Doctor Dolittle (1998)
    # Mulan (1998) (voice)
    # Metro (1997)
    # The Nutty Professor (1996)

I spy, Showtime, Pluto Nash and Holy man are the only box office failures I see there. Everything else, albeit not a major hit, was financially successful.

Why not counting those, he was in it. It depends on what your definition of a good movie is too. I actually liked most of the movies you listed.

The last good movie Murphy made was Coming to America and he stole the ideas for that. Everything since was watered down crap.

I may accept arguments on behalf of Bowfinger, but the Nutty Professor? Dr. Dolittle? The young Eddie Murphy would rip the actor who took those movies to shreds for being a talentless hack.

I'd have to say Bowfinger - he was pretty darn good in that one
