Good music but a certain website destroyed any favorable reaction I could ever have to You Spin Me Round.
It is interesting how it always seems like the last decade or two always seem more fun than the current one. I remember in college in the 90's one time at a friends' apartment where he was saying if we were in the 70's things would be so much more fun. I countered no it would be same except we would have wider collars and be saying how it would be so much more fun if we were in the 60's.
I wasn't very old in the 80s, but everything was really sci-fi back then. Everyone thought by 2010 we'd be flying around in flying cars and having robot servants to do our bidding. But no, we're just wasting our lives posting status updates and pics of hot chicks.
You had me at dude in a bear suit. Anything with a guy in bear suit is win. http://watchingapersoninabearsuit.ytmnd.com/
I guess its good to see Clark from Clark and Michael get some movie time... Looks pretty funny though.
That's true and the 60's seem to break that rule. That said though a lot of people in the 80's wanted to be back in the '50's considering how much 50's nostalgia there was then with movies like Back to the Future and Stand by Me. I remember once watching a commercial for kids watches in the 80's and for seemingly no reason they had a picture of James Dean and a bunch of kids yelling "Too Coool!" My theory about this kind of nostalgia is that most of the people now who help shape tastes (producers, directors, writers and etc) are in their mid 30's to late 40's and look back nostalgically to their teen years of 15 to 20 years ago. To them that was both the most fun they had in their lives and also the years that shaped their tastes. So in the 80's 30 and 40 somethings Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg looked back to the 50's while now 30 and 40 somethings like Seth MacFarlane looks back to the 80's as being the most fun.
The 80s were pretty cool. Legal drinking age of 18 and legal MDMA...at least in the first half of the decade. Party.
It also was looked at as a pretty dark time too. According to Star Trek the world should be devestated by the Eugenics war. The fact we can do it online and have limitless pics of hot chicks at our fingertips is amazing progress!
The fact that life has slowly began progressing into a universal social medium as an alternate reality is definitely straight out of a 1950's Sci-Fi novel.
