Just wondering if anyone else liked the Austin band, "And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead"? I don't keep up with local music that well, but they are probably the best rock band I have heard from Austin (ever).

Anyway, the reason for the thread is because a new NBA commercial that was playing all day yesterday used the 1st track "Ode to Isis" from their newest album. It is the one that has an ominous solo piano intro and then adds a choir. The commercial is filmed in black and white and has a shot of Mutombo in it.

A year or more ago, HBO was using "Relative Ways" for one of their commercials as well.

Although I haven't been to a concert, I bought a tshirt of theirs online (I do have 2 of their CDs).... every time I wear it, every chick with a nose ring that I walk by starts talking to me.... hmmmm..... gotta buy more of those tshirts....

Huge TOD fan here ~ i've followed them since day one so it's really weird to hear their music as an NBA theme song (yeah I noticed that as well). I've been to 10+ of their shows over the years and generally if you can catch them in smaller venue you can expect some chaos ~ always a good time.

Btw - all their albums/EPs are good so grab them all.

I've heard of them many a time, and I've probably heard their music (my friend is really into local metal/rock bands) but if I weren't already going to the S.O.A.D. concert on the 30th, I'd check them out at Emo's...

I got "Source Tags & Codes" about a month ago and liked the album a lot. I will probably have to get some more stuff by them.

The Thirteenth Floor Elevators signed with International Artists, which was a Houston record label, but they were an Austin band. Roky Erickson grew up in Austin, Tommy Hall went to UT, and Danny Galindo grew up in Austin... and they formed in Austin. I'm not too sure about the other members of the band, but the only ones that really count are Roky and Tommy.
