hey all, so i'm driving into work this morning along 610 S Loop and exiting off the ramp towards Kirby when i get into my first accident. that exit ramp turns right back onto 610, so I had to switch lanes as soon as I got off. when i looked to my right to check the blind spot/side mirror, the car in front of me brakes hard, causing me to rear end her (not in a good way) since I didn't see her hit the brakes. anyway, i received a citation for 'failure to control speed' and had a few ticket and insurance related questions. i know there have been topics similiar to this in the past, but i was unable to dig them up. does anyone know what exactly is deferred adjudication and if it's the best option? i've heard stories about requesting trial by judge/jury and prolonging the procedures until the judge dismisses it or the cop fails to appear in court. i took defensive driving a couple yrs ago, so i don't think it's an option for me. i've also heard you can hire some attorneys (the ones i know charge $100) and they more often than not take care of the ticket, plus there is no record of the citation on one's driving history. anybody care to shed more light into this subject?
you can take defensive driving again after 1 year. so you can do that. Deferred adjudication is a joke, you go to court, pay $50 dollars, wait 3 months, go back to court, pay $100 dollars. assumeing you dont get into a accident again or get a ticket. In that case you then have to pay both tickets in full. Those are the only 2 ive tried, but if I were you I would do defensive driving again here defensive driving its $40 but it takes up a whole day.
