There's an offer to swap picks 11 and 2. Who gets the better end of the deal in a 12-team league with standard points?

After doing several online mock drafts, I lean towards 11 having the better spot, but it would be nice to have SJax.

What do you get for giving up your spot (I'm assuming #2) for spot 11?

It's a straight up swap for position. The mock drafts I've done at both positions suggest...at least IMO, that #11 is a better spot. But I guess if you feel strongly about SJax (who I would take at #2), it wouldn't be good to move down.

    I'd do it if...
    A. I'm comfortable with the player I could get at #11 and
    B. The person who wants to move up would swap draft spots in Round 3 for that round only.

Moving up 10 spots in Round 3 could enable you to get a much better player with pick #26

Otherwise why move down in the draft just to help someone else out? You have to get something out of it.

See, I don't understand that line of thought. With a snake draft, there are benefits to nearly every draft position. With #11, I can get a second tier RB and a top tier WR. Or two second tier RBs. With #2, I get a 1a tier RB and maybe a third tier starting RB or a second tier WR.

I agree with you line of reasoning but I'm assuming the person who wants to move from 11 to 2 is pushing to do the deal. If that assumption is correct then you should push for compensation in the third round for swapping draft positions. Make it seem like you really want Sjax at #2 and are happy to draft in that position unless compensated. That would even further enhance your draft position. You would then have picks

    11, 14, 26, 38
    Instead of
    11, 14, 35, 38

Moving up 9 spots in the third should land you an even better player. I guess it depends on how bad that person wants to move up to #2.

(Note: I'm also have much more experience with a scoring only league. I'm in year 14 with a group where we get to keep one franchise player and draft order is determined by where you finished the year before. Without yardage a premium is on players who get into the endzone so the move from pick 35 to 26 would be potentially big in our league. My Stats league team has sucked 3 years in a row before I squeaked into the playoffs last year)

I also have the #2 pick and would love to have the #3 pick instead.

Just curious why you have SJ over LJ? That seems to be the trend.

I think the retirements across their OL and SJax stepping it up late in the season last year has something to do with it.

I decided to stay at two.

Stayed with two. Here's my team:

    QB-Leinart, Losman
RB-S. Jackson, McAllister, Norwood, M. Bell, N. Davenport
WR-Holt, Fitzgerald, C. Johnson, Stallworth, Glenn, Williamson
    TE-Crumpler, Miller
    Def-Philly
    K-Gostikowski

Are you a Rams fan? But Holt and Jackson are both beasts so its good. And damn you have a great team. Extremely loaded at WR but a bit undermanned at QB. If I were you I would trade one of your 3 elite receivers and Leinart for a upper level QB.

Oh okay... well that changes things lol. You are still jacked in all positions except for QB though. McAllister is your 2nd Rb right? Or are you putting Calvin Johnson as a 3rd receiver? One way or another I would find a way to upgrade QB slot though. But wait until the regular season to see how Leinart does. In the game against us he was very good so maybe he has stepped it up a notch for this year.

I may, but I kinda specifically targeted Leinart after I drafted Fitzgerald. I knew with my position I could get him in the 8th round. I'll like having a QB that scores everytime my WR does. We'll see though, but I think both of my QBs have some upside with Bouldin/Fitzgerald and Lee Evans.

I like the Leinart pick, I think he is going to have a big year. I also have the 2nd pick coming up in my draft, and I plan on taking S Jax as well. It's a keeper league and the roster I inherited allows me to keep Maroney if I give up my 2nd round pick, so I plan on doing that. I also get to keep Ced Benson if I give up my 6th round pick, so I think thats a no brainer.

My RB's will be set at that point, so rounds 3, 4, and 5 will be for two WR's and a QB. I'm curious, where did you get Fitzgerald at in your draft? I may target him in the 3rd.

That's where I got him. Took Holt second and Fitz third. For a split second, I really thought about Bulger, but that would've been too huge a jump for him since he ended up going in the fourth. Of course, someone took Tom Brady with the fourth pick in the second round, so I still wouldn't have had the worst pick of the day. Actually, that was Morency in the fourth.

Leinart is a work in progress and Losman is basically garbage.

Sjax is studly, and Deuce is still worthy of being a #2 rb. Norwood and Bell could have great years.

I like your WRs a lot, Glenn is always a good value and Johnson has great upside.

I dunno. It would've seriously downgraded my WRs or RBs. As it stands, I really like my team, but I say that every post-draft, pre-season! :)
