This is the first game I can really watch rockets on tv this season. I just wonder if Yao is really what rockets needed? Why dont we trade yao for an all-star PF. J. Oneal, K. Martyn and R. Wallace first come to my mind. Then, we have cato who's very capable for rebounding and dirty work. We have an excellent PF to deal with the stars PF in the west. We have excellent backcourt with SF and Cat. And JJ is our star this season. It's much better than the situation now. I just feel that both Yao and guards are frustrated with each others.

I dont want to raise any flame war. I just want the honest opinion from u guys, is an all-star PF with good mobility better fit to the rockets than a slow but good centre?

Generally, I agree with your point.

Yep. Trade him or Francis. I don't think they can coexist long.

anyway, I think i would trade yao for steve francis, id rather have an all star pg than an all star pf.

    no no no

yao is the core of this team, and we should keep it that way

and by the way, yao is not a slow center....hes pretty fast for his size.

Cato tried to be our center before yao came and we all know how that turned out.....

people just dont understand how great Yao already is and the amount of potential he has. This guy has many years to come in the NBA and I want to see most, if not all of those years wearing a Rockets jersey proudly.

This isn't a knee jerk reaction for me. I think Yao will be a good player, but I have always thought that the Rockets would have been beetere served by trading Yao for Odom and the two lottery picks. We coul dhave used one on Amare and who cares who else with the other one.

To me, Odom, Amare, and a lottery pick > Yao Ming.

The Rockets line up could be

    Cato
    Amare
    Odom
    Mobley
    Francis

Much better if you ask me.

This is yaos 2nd year. So he still needs time. But one thing I do know is that francis needs to go he is no all star! They guy cant run the point! I have never noticed how bad of a passer he is! Francis only knows one thing and that is himself, and sometimes cat but thats it! Trade his a**!

Sorry my observation is really based on only one game. From what I heard from u guys in the previous games and what I saw in this game, Yao is not much the factor of the team's success. To be very honest, I dont see much different bet. this game and the games last season in terms of the involvement of Yao. I am not trying to blame anyone. I just wonder if a good PF be a better fit to rockets than a good centre.

The only 2 players i would think about trading yao for is probably Duncan and Garnett (age and skill considered)

Jeez....I try to never flame anyone but................OK.................I won't start now. It really sucks to have a great player at the most important position in championship history. Since he didn't have that good of a game....I say we trade him to Dallas for Finley. After all, Finley had more shots tonight with a better shooting percentage. Nah...Dallas would never do that.

The zone has nothing to do with it.

That would be a better balanced team, a better rebounding team and a team that's tougher inside. They would be much quicker and more athletic.

Also, having Odom gives you one more excellent ball handler.

Yao isn't aggressive enough or quick enough to consistently dominate this league. Period. It was a great story, a great curiousity, and a lot of fun, but people in this league analyze your game and come up with counters.

Yao will always be able to get his 17/8/2. But he won't be able to average 23/12/4 that would put him in the Dream, Shaq, and Duncan range. He needs too much help and set up to be effective.

Even when Seattle took the ball completely out of Dream's hands with their zone, he would STILL find a way to get 18-20 points, 12-15 rebounds, and 3 blocks. He would find a way to be a dominant force.

Right now it's like the guards have throw a certain pass, the coaches have the call a certain play, and opponents have to play a certain defense for Yao to be effective. Otherwise, he pretty much dissappears.

That's a BIG problem for me. You have to find a way to compete.
