Houston sends: Maurice Taylor, Jason Collier, and #15 Detroit sends: Zeljko Rebracca, Chucky Atkins, and #23 This was accepted by realgm.com, and the thesis is that you get to dump Taylor's contract, and alleviate the log-jam at power forward. You also gain a viable center pro-spect/ject in Rebracca who could prove either more viable than Kelvin Cato, or serve as his fire-starting back-up. While Francis would be pissed by the Rockets adding a guard to the roster, Atkins would provide insurance to the shoulder injury, recurring migraines and potential contract disputes. The Pistons bring a home-town boy in to play alongside Wallace in the front-court, and provide stability as Cliff Robinson nears closer to drawing social security. More importantly, moving from #23 to #15, allows them a shot at the 2nd rated point in this year's draft.... Frank Williams? Dan Dickau? Jiri Welsch?, etc.... Does Houston give up too much in this deal?.... Who wins/who loses?.... Thoughts???? For the record I'm also in favor of a deal with Denver (#1, Rice, Moochie for #5, McDyess, Posey)... Sitting at #5, you should still have a shot at Caron Butler....
I like Rebraca, but he is a 29 yo rookie and although fundamentally sound he a quality backup at best. Atkins (although probably better) is redundant to Moochie. MoT is a starter and MoT and #15 should net more than this. Especially in the EC. I am of course assuming MoT fully recovers from injury. I think this is close capwise. Is this too one sided? CAVS trade Tyronne Hill + Chris Mihm for MoT + Collier + #15 + future second
Detroit would laugh at that trade. They already had a great shot at Taylor when he was a free agent (they had cap room and wanted a PF) and didn't even give him a look. They know he's a softie and after the injury and ludicrous contract? No way. Rebraca is very likely their starter next season. He got a handful of starts and put up around 16 points 7.5 boards and 3 blocks per in them. They're very happy with him. Not to mention they like Atkins, even if they don't like him as a starter. He's a million times more likely to start and contribute than a mid round rookie.
