Simple poll: Should the Rockets trade T-Mac or keep him? Please consider all variables (i.e., what we could get in return; how much he could help the team once healthy from the strained tendon; high risk of more injuries to his knee and back; willingness to rebuild the team again). There are many other factors, but I just needed to gauge where the members of this board stood as a whole. I know I'm not being very specific with who we would receive in return (it's unreasonable to think we would get Garnett in a deal, but it's also unreasonable to think we would just get a conditional first rounder), but in general, if the opportunity arose that we were actually looking to trade him, would you like to see this team move in a different direction or do you want to ride him out? Personally, I would like to keep T-Mac for many reasons. I don't think we could get equal value and when healthy, I think he improves this team a lot. That is the crux of my argument for keeping him, but of course I have a few more arguments that I won't bore you guys with. The point of this thread is to see what the rest of you really believe would be best for this organization. Many of my friends that are fellow die-hard fans surprised me with their overwhelming desire to trade T-Mac. This opinion really is a growing trend on this board and I wanted to see how dominant it was. IMO, I think T-Mac will come back healthy from this injury and our team will be stronger from all the extra game time the reserves got while he was gone.
This poll isn't going to work, because too many people have deluded themselves into thinking we can trade him for an allstar(s) with more upside. In actuality, any plausible trade involving T-Mac will make us a worse team this year, and probably next year as well.
i would trade him for kobe, talent wise but i just don't see kobe bein a true houston rocket. i dont think our team personality is for him.
I still believe he is a top 10 player in this league when healthy, and his major chronic injury has caused him no fuss since last December. So, with the team as a whole really starting to blossom under this new system, and a soft 2 months schedule-wise coming up, I would like to see how the next few months unfold before making a decision to trade the team's best player, likely for value that is not equal.
Not really. They are totally biased. If TMac missed as much time as Yao did with a toe injury, they would be calling for his head and making thread upon thread of "How can a toe keep you out for that long?"
Although I have always loved T-Mac, and he even replaced Yao as my favorite Rocket, I have been really down on him lately. Nevertheless, I think you have to wait and let the plans for this season play out. The only remote hope for a championship this season is with T-Mac. Then, in the offseason, there are two paths to choose from: trade whoever it takes to get an all-star type to go with Yao and McGrady, get a big 3, or else ship McGrady out and try a new plan. T-Mac has definitely peaked. The longer we hold him, the worse he will get (and more expensive). But this season is definitely the last chance for the Yao-McGrady theory.
I bet they would consider a Kobe for Yao, but a guard or two would have to be sent by the Rocks as it would create too big a hole at the 2 in LaLa land, as well as a huge hole at the C in H-town. Having said that, I would be curious what a SF/SG combination of Kobe and a healthy T-Mac could accomplish??
I can't believe more people voted for trading him. Where are all your brains gone T-Mac will come back and lead the Rockets, and you guys will be pissed. And anyway, a trade won't happen.
