Instead of making 3 different threads, i'll make one. Shaun Livingston goes to the Memphis Grizzlies. http://www.nba.com/2009/news/01/07/grizzlies.heat.trade.ap/index.html Chucky Atkins and a protected first-round pick in this summer to Oklahoma City for center Johan Petro and the Thunder's second-round pick this year http://www.nba.com/2009/news/01/07/thunder.nuggets.trade.ap/index.html And not really a trade, but the Clippers acquired Hassan Adams and than waived him immediately -_-.....
..and then got waived. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/jan/07/griz-acquire-waive-guard-shaun-livingston/
Shaun Livingston's career is so upsetting to me. He had some of the greatest upside of any young player, only to have it derailed by one of the worst sports injuries I've ever seen (next to Joe Theisman and the hockey goaltender who's neck was slashed by another's skate blade).
So did Memphis just found out a new business model for the NBA? Stay way under the cap and trade for garbage players around the league and receive cash considerations.
Remember Travis Roy... a collegiate hockey player who had his neck broken with resulting quadriplegia in the first 10 seconds of his first collegiate game?
yeah, the reports two days ago was that he was released by the Heat. now it turns out he was traded and released by the Grizz... can the Grizzlies afford to give away any more money or talent?
The Griz got PAID to waive Livingston. That franchise is in financial disarray and needs to compile as much cash as possible in order to sell the team. That's exactly what they did with the Francis trade (although they also got back their valuable 2009 second rounder). Don't be surprised if they do two or three more moves like this.
