I have a buddy in Los Angeles who works at a sports talk radio station who claims to have pretty good connections with the Lakers. He says that the Lakers, Bulls and Rockets are working on a deal that could send Williams and Thomas to the Bulls, Miller and Artest to the Lakers, and Horry home to the Rockets. Has anybody who has any good sources with the Rockets heard about this rumor?

That just a little too much for Horry Thomas alone has better numbers.

I'm for the proposed three team trade if it does give the Rockets' some leeway to get Olajuwon + Mutombo or Antonio Davis.

Williams salary is quite big for the point production he brings to the table.

Straightforward, insightful, meaningful commentary on a trade proposal. You have a future as a GM, Rocketkid. [IMG]

The Rockets gain very little cap relief in this deal. Williams and Horry's salaries are almost the same. I can't see losing Thomas while swapping SF's and no cap relief. And what if we lose out on Taylor and Webber? Then we'll be force to play Horry at PF. I think this is no more than wishful thinking or an over active imagination to get Horry here.

becker, a word of advice on how things work here. You have 4 posts and started 3 topics. Find a topic your thoughts fit into instead of starting new threads. This keeps the board from getting too cluttered. Original ideas are great for threads, but be sure they are original. [IMG]

I'm stunned ... that's about as plausible, balanced, and unglamorous as any trade rumor I've ever heard. The salaries match up just fine, too.

The only thing that doesn't quite fit is what Chicago would want with Kenny Thomas, but there could be a side deal to waive him back to Houston in exchange for releasing the "pin". Or maybe the Rockets don't expect to have any room for Thomas, either, after they're done FA shopping.

how is becker's post not original? to this point..i havent heard a thing about this rumor. thanx for the info becker..if its legitimate. just because a member is a "junior member" does not indicate inferiority in any way, nor does it indicate a lack of knowledge.

Guess what Behad? I don't recall asking for commentary on my posts. Maybe I don't feel like writing a whole book like you did on the topic.

the one thing I can't understand is why would the Rockets do it? Of corse it would help the Bulls and Lakers out but it would be horable for the Rockets

Thanks for the info, Becker. It is always good to hear new rumors. If nothing else, it means that someone somewhere is thinking about the deal. If it is true, it also may mean that the Rockets are fairly certain they will not need Thomas, which might mean they feel pretty good about a Webber deal.

The deal fits as far as the numbers go, so at least someone has bothered to make those work.

The price seems steep for the Rockets, with Horry costing them Thomas and Wiz. However, both Thomas and Wiz occupy cap space for this next year, so it doesn't hurt them there. And, they create a roster space, because Horry could play bench 3/4. He brings better defense, shot blocking, and height.

I like the deal. Especially if it means we have some reason to believe Webber might be coming. Even without Webber, it helps the Rockets, in my opinion.

I would expect the Bulls to move Fizer if they get Thomas. Lakers get someone to help replace Ho Grant and Horry.

The deal makes sense for all involved, so it has some logic going for it.

Exactly where did I say it was not original? For that matter, where did I use the words inferior, lack of knowlege, or junior? There's not a thing wrong with this thread. But it's his third one out of four posts. THAT is what I was pointing out to him. I just didn't want him to develope bad habits, such as critisizing posters for trying to maintain some semblence of order.

Guess what? This is a public board...you're gonna get comments whether you ask for them or not. That is how it works on a bbs.

Well you know what Behad, you can stick to writing your deep, insightful books on the topic and I'll just stick to keeping it simple. I'm sorry I didn't write a encyclopedia of thoughts like you did, but there's no need to comment on my simple comments.

Maybe the Rockets acquire the #4 pick in exchange for the #13, #18, & the Drew obligation. Unless the Rockets are really high on Horry, I'd think that there would have to be some picks being moved as well in that deal.

Your "simple comment" was imflammatory toward the gay community, of which I have several friends and at least one known poster to this board.

Geez, if you call my post was long winded, wait till Azim or HeyP go off on one of their rants, or oilepere lets loose with one of his trade rumors.

Goodness, I hate how people are so quick to be offended. Oh no, I said the word gay. gay gay gay gay gay gay gay gay gay gay gay. If I were against the gay community, I would've made a thread against gays. BTW, half of your comments are "imflammatory" to new posters to this forum. I'm tired how you treat new posters like they're idiots. You did it to me, and now you're doing it to becker. No one made you forum police. If they want to make a new thread, so be it.

Come on guys, let it go. Let's talk Rockets & not turn this thread into another flame war.

Oeilpere, Doc Rocket, Clutch or anyone in the know, we need some nourishment here. The natives are starting to feed on each other again. Throw us a bone or two. I'd even settle for another one of Doc's cryptic messages. [IMG]

That's not what I meant. What I don't want are sarcastic replies on the length of my posts.
