Currently three Point Guards are available on the market...
    Chucky Atkins
    Brevin Knight
    Luke Ridnour
(*Jason Kidd is also on the market but we do not have the young prospects they want)

I would not call them Back-Up point guards because they all have potentials to do better than Rafer Alston
    Here are the scenarios..
Memphis Grizzlies would do this trade because *obviously* they are in a transition era and more cap relief means they have more money to get another big time All star...

Charlotte Bobcats would do this trade because Brevin Knight is unhappy about getting little play time. They might as well trade him for more spending power in the off season.

Seattle SuperSonics are in rebuilding mode. If they are not, then Bonzi Wells can give them a much needed post player

**Some of these trades require us to give up additional draft picks to sweeten the deal

    thoughts and positive criticism?

JL3 + Sura works for Mike James

The Bucks may be a team to watch. Charlie Bell is a guy that they may want to hang on to but Mo Williams could be outed due to the potential of what he will demand in free agency. He's not a passing guard like a Rafer Alston but can definately score. Probably a rental but would help our backup one by leaps and bounds.

Marcus Banks is another to keep an eye on with Phoenix. He could be had for Sura's expiring.

1st trade - I don't understand your logic here. Memphis is in rebuilding mode so they'd want to trade a guy whose contract expires at the end of the season for a guy with another season left on his contract? Maybe if you included a second round pick or something I could see that, but as is it makes very little sense to me.

2nd trade - I like it. I think we'd have to throw in a draft pick for the Bobcats to consider it though. Hopefully just a second rounder. Brevin isn't much a shooter, but I can't say Lucas or VSpan have been lighting it up either. At least Knight is a proven NBA point guard.

3rd trade - I'm not all that familiar with Ridnours game, but he's got to be better than our back ups. I'm not crazy about giving up Wells for Ridnour, but besides that there is another problem. Our roster is full. 15 players. In this trade, we take back 3 players for 2. Who do we cut? Obviously before the Tsakalidas trade it would have been Padgett, but clearly they want Tsakalidas so he won't be getting cut. Lucas has a three year contract as does VSpan. Novak isn't getting cut. And you include Sura in the deal, so he can't be cut. Everybody else is in our rotation. So I don't see how that works.

yea thats why i put the ** at the bottom because i cannot put draft picks in the trade machine...
i think they need more than a second round pick....i am willing to give up this year's first round for him

I love the idea of Ridnour on the Rockets, but I doubt he can be had for what the Rockets offer. I'm sure there will be another team with a better offer.

The only other PG I would want from that list is Chucky Atkins. And I think CD is working on it as we type.

i do not see Big Jake getting any play time
Besides if we were to get Mouhamed Sene from that trade then all is well.

Brevin Knight is a bad fit for the Rox, he cant' hit a jumpshot if his life depended on it. Hes got good D and is a pass first PG, but his presence on the court means Yao and TMax gets doubled every play

I suppose that's true. I wonder could they choose to cut Sene once he gets here if they prefer Tsakalidas? Or if they have to cut somebody before they can take back all three players. If so, maybe they could cut Mike Wilks. Whoever they like the least. That could work if it's possible.

But he's better than Lucas and VSpan! I mean, at least his D and passing are good.

if we can get him for cheap, I'd love it. You've been warned about his jumpshot though.

"The Rockets could seek a point guard addition but are unwilling to take on a contract that would exceed the role as Alston's backup."

I guess the rockets want to leave enough cap space heading into the off-season so they can add draft rookies and spend the mle without entering into lux tax territory.

that'd leave guys like mike james and earl watson out of the equation.

btw watson has back problems this season. i doubt the rockets would make 3 guys with back problems on the roster a reality.
