Luther Head Chuck Hayes Bob Sura FOR David Lee Jared Jeffries Intro: in 1~2 years our front court will be in Deep Deep trouble because Juwan and Deke will retire, so i propose the trade above to solidify our frontcourt. Why would The New York Knicks want to do this? As Tim Legler said in his Daily Dime Section , the Knicks are one sharp shooter away from contending in the Eastern Conference. Luthur Head provide enough firepower to keep the opponents from doubling Eddy Curry. Trade away David Lee will NOT affect their front court that much because they still have Channing Frye, a potential star at powerforward. If they want to have a defensive PF, they got Chuck Hayes from this trade, which is another version of Jared Jafferies. To sweeten the deal for them, they also get salary cap relief from this trade (Bob Sura). Why would The Houston Rockets want to do this? In my opinion, our frontcourt is even weaker than our backcourt. Watching Marcus Camby and Tyson Chandler dominated our frontcourt in recent games makes me worry about our frontcourt in the near future. This trade not only solidify our frontcourt, it will make it the best in the West. David Lee is a future monster. He averages a double-double off the bench! He is also one of the best rebounder in the league. He is a rich-man version of Chuck Hayes. We also get Jared Jeffries from this deal, a 25-year-old player who can guard 4 positions. He has high IQ on defense and a very good handle for a guy that size. The only down side is his contract ($5,215,000 for the next 5 years). Our backcourt is NOT as weak as some of you might think after this trade. We still have Kirk Synder and Bonzi Wells to play at the shooting guard position.
At a selfish level I would love this. Lee was great at Florida and I'd love to see a Gator on this team. But the truth is Head has had quite a few invaluable moments, and I think he is an essential piece of the championship run puzzle. Not to mention the chemistry as a whole is working. And we also happen to have the 5th BEST RECORD IN THE LEAGUE (correct me if I'm wrong) W/ OUT YAO. We have bigger issues at backup pg anyways.
The Knicks would not do this trade. They love David Lee, and Jared Jefferies is their starting SF. I would do this deal in a second in I were the Rockets and it was presented to me, but again, the Knicks would never do this. Also, where would our outside shooting now come from? Yes, Rafer and T-Mac both like to shoot it from the outside, but when one or both of them is on the bench, we'll have only guys who are slashers and not scorers.
Im sorry but that is not a good trade.... Luther head and Chuck Hayes are a good part of our Offense .. especially Luther Head hes a big reason were such a good 3 point shooting team.. and Hes Clutch I know Last night was a bad game for him but Everyone has a Bad Game
I didnt propose this trade because of last nights game. i start to think of this trade when i read the daily dime sectiona few days ago. Luther's clutchness is just as important as Lee's double-double EVERY GAME
I would do the trade plain and simple. However, there is absolutely no way the Knicks would do this. The organization loves David Lee. He is considered one of their cornerstone players for the future. Now, I am pretty positive that the Knicks wouldnt mind getting rid of Jared Jeffries and that stupid contract, but it is my opinion that they would not jettison Lee to accomplish that.
Of course you do this trade. David Lee is an awesome PF and the main reason the knicks have won as many games as they have. A nightly double-double, while having a positive Ast/TO ratio, while shooting 60% from the floor and 80% from the FT line, makes him one of the best PF's in the league. His EFF rating of 20 indicates that. He also does the little things; playing defense and keeping his hands active. He's just a huge impact player. Believe it or not, Isiah Thomas is holding this guy back. He could challenge for the rebounding title if he'd start or play more minutes. On our team he could do that. He's the perfect complementary frontcourt partner for Yao and he once had a jumper at Florida. That jumper's gone now, but he's better than ever. Oh, and NY would never do that trade.
Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds? Just sit back and pretend for one second that you're not a Rocket fan and re-read the trade that you are proposing.
Thank you Mr. Preposterous Trade Idea Man. Only a Rocket homer would think this has any chance of happening. Making this trade would put the crown on Zeke's complete demolition of the Knicks franchise.
Well at least my presentation is not a one-liner trade idea you guys dont realize how important it is if Luther Head plays for the Knicks. the reason why opponents can double Eddy Curry EVERY SINGLE possession is because they do not have a sharp shooter. Jamal Crawford and QRich bricking every single time is not the answer. Luther Head is the 6th best 3pt shooter in the League and will keep their opponents honest. Maybe i should replace David Lee with Channing Frye, but then no rocket homer will do this trade i am also a Knicks fan btw cuz i live in NYC and watch them everyday
1. why do we need another SF??? and JJ comes with a huge contract 2. I think J.Ho and Mutombo can still play one more season, but David Lee only has 2 years left on his contract. A decent starting PF in this league goes about 8mm a year. So in a year or two, we will basically end up with another big contract on SF, which we have already had a surplus. But no cap space to resign D.Lee this is a really bad trade.
trading away luther will give us little firepower from the outside. right now it may seem ok, but when yao comes back and is dominating the paint, it is more vital that we have good three point shooters than a great rebounder (even tho im a big david lee fan) It may seem like a good idea right now since we do not really play from the inside out, thus it seems that we need more peopel in the paint; a month from now we will be wishing we had more three point shooters
Knickfans LOVE D Lee. This would never happen. However, I commend you for not putting Steve Francis in the trade.
I love JJ, but I think it's more important for us to spend our cap space on a PF/C, rather than on a SF.
WHAT about our chances now? Are you giving up our chance for this year for next year? that doesn't sound kewl.
