It's no secret that Denver is trying to move K-Mart. He's been in bad standing with George Karl for a while and even some players have publicly taken the coach's side. He has a bad attitude, a bad knee, and a difficult contract to move. But he also brings toughness and rebounding to any team in a hurry.

While in LA, it seems like Kobe and Odom have been having some differences all season long and it only stands to get worse. Phil Jackson knows someone has to go and it most likely ain't gonna be LA's new prodical son. Phil's experiment with Michael Jodan's prodical son, Kwame, is taking longer than expected and LA fans with any concievable plans of advancing in the playoffs want some real toughness in that anemic frontline. With guys like Medvedenko, Bynum, Cook, Mihm, and Kwame on the team, K-Mart would be the obvious starter at the 4. And who else but the Zen master to coach Martin, it would be like the Rodman years part deaux. Denver is desperate to move him and his bloated contract so LA could demand Julius Hodge be part of the deal as insurance incase Martin's knee goes out again. Jackson has always liked big PGs and Hodge fits that bill perfectly.

Odom also could come in and take some of the scoring load off of Carmelo. Denver has needed another scoring option for some time now and Odom's game is versitle enough to allow Carmelo to stay in the paint, where he's most comfortable. Odom's passing skills also would allow Andre Miller more shots, something he has always liked. And with guys like Nene, Najera, Elson and Camby Denver still has enough interior defense to hold their own in the playoffs.

    Kevin Martin
    Julius Hodge

    for

    Lamar Odom
    2007 2nd round pick

Kevin Martin plays for the Kings. But, if the Nuggets figure out a way to trade other team's players... I'd say, go for it.

Kmart to the Lakers is a laugh. Team Kobe's playing musical chairs until they find someone who will put up with his **** and not suck.

I can't wait for an inadvertant elbow of Kmart landing on Kobe's noggin on the way down from a rebound.

dont see why the lakers would do this, they are basically trading a good pf who can basically do everything, for a injured B+ PF with a bad attitude, and mostly rely on other people to get him the ball, which probably will be a bad fit playing with kobe.

1)Kobe and Lamar are not playing well together, much less getting along.

2)Kenyon doesn't need the ball that much because he doesn't take many shots. He won't demand touches. He's more of a putback and power player.

If the Lakers and Denver want to make a worthwhile trade:

    Denver Trades:

    Andre Miller

    to

    Lakers For:

    Kwame Brown
    #26
    Sasha Vujacic

    1. Serves Lakers' need for a PG

    2. Gives the Nuggets insurance if/when they trade Martin away and gives Nene some time to recoup. Vujacic...decent perimeter shooter.

I'll concede the first point to you but if you are the Lakers you still want to get someone better in return than KMart. Kobe NEEDS a second scoring option to relieve some offensive burden off his shoulders. Let's not forget that MJ needed Scottie and DWade needed Shaq. THe Lakers without a strong 2nd scoring option will be like TMac in Orlando.

Odom for Marion would be a mutually beneficial trade. Marion could fit the bill well in LA and Odom is making over 8 million less over the next three years so that would relieve some salary cap issues for Phoenix.

I wish you were the Lakers GM.

I'm glad you're not the Nugs GM.

    2 things.

    It's prodigal not prodical.

MJ kept Rodman's ass in check just as much as the zen master. And Mike is probably ten times more respected as a teammate and leader than Kobe. Plus Kenyon Martin is a completely different breed than Rodman. Kenyon think's he's a star.

Thanks for the spell check. I wrote it just for kicks. I try to spell everything correct, but not many do around here, or care.

Yes, K-Mart probably thinks he's a star. So what? Almost all professional athletes do. Are you saying Rodman didn't want or need attention?
Martin was highly touted coming out, but has already reached his full potential.

I thought this trade addressed the needs of both teams well.

Yes Kobe needs help and maybe Kenyon and Kwame could develop into an outstanding froncourt. Again maybe, he could bring out a mean streak in Kwame..............

And Hodge could be the perfect compliment to Kobe. That backcourt could cause some mathup problems with both guys being 6-7.

Great. Now trade proposal threads are leaking into this forum too.

Lakers can get way better for Odom than Martin. Lakers have been sensitive about the cap as well - they missed out on several free agents last year because they refused to offer anything longer than 2 years in a vain gameplan to go after Yao, Amare, and Dirk.

The best case scenario value that Kenyon offers is an undersized PF that gives you 15 and 7, a tough-guy presence on the court, but is overwhelmed by any big PF assignment on D. Worst case scenario is you trade for that max contract and have a guy that can only play half the time, has a poor work ethic, uncoachable, unpopular in the locker room, but still expects to be treated like an superstar.

Fair trade value for him is more along the lines of Chris Webber, or Maurice Taylor+Malik Rose.

Lakers should get rid of Kobe for Steve Francis, then find some way to grab Mobley.

Once they have Lamar Odom running the break, with Steve and Cat playing on the wings -- it's over, man, it's over.

I wouldn't even touch Kenyon unless he was bought out and signed with us for 3 years at the MLE.

The only star player Kobe can coexist with is probably Ben Wallace (no shots, no touches).
