I think Cuban is enough of a gambler to make this trade, especially since he has a front court that won't need Griffin to contribute this year. He can think of it as an investment that might turn out.

Najera would be able to play either forward spot and provide solid defense, rebounding and some muscle to help protect Ming. He also wouldn't be taking non-arching threes at random points in the game.

It checked out on the trade checker in realgm.com.

Another player that would be good compensation for Griffin would be Battier. I think Memphis might make that trade. It checks out as well.

Battier would be nice. He'd fit in well.

Najera is pretty much a hustle guy with little offensive game similar to Cato and Braggs. I think the Rockets could get a little bit more for EG but his value is declining everyday.

If the Rockets are going to trade EG than I'd prefer to get a backup PG maybe a Rafer Alston or Tony Delk. (not paying attention to salaries). I think that is a much bigger need than another hustle guy and they might be able to get an decent point guard for Eddie.

Why stop there? Why not try to swing Shaq or McGrady for Griffin?

He's got no value. none. zero. null.

We're talking about Shane Battier. In any case, I don't see why we would want Bateer. :p

If you want a dirty player who throws elbows and takes cheap shots, then Najera's your man.

Well, I'd take Bateer over Amaechi - wouldn't you?

Why would Cuban be willing to give up Najera , a hard-nose role player, for somebody like Griffin.

why would u trade for raefer alston? hes signed a 10 day contract with just about every team in the nba (exaggeration), he just cant seem to stick, he hasnt played even half a season with the same team yet

My reasoning was based on a few points

    - Dallas is now not using Najera much because of their front court log jam. With Jamison, Nowitzki, Walker all power forwards their is little use for Najera right now.

    - Griffin still has alot of potential and doesn't have a huge salary. Cuban might want to acquire him now for the future when Walker and others are either traded or retired.

    - it would lower Dallas's salary.

    - Fortson is a very similar player to Najera.

The Battier idea would be less likely but I think West might listen to it since Griffin was once the number one highschool player in the country.

at this point it would be a great trade for us, but I don't see why the mavs would do it since they could just sign Griff for less than the MLE next year if they thought he was worth a damn.

The only reason they would do it is to prevent other teams from having the option. I know Eddie's value to the Rocket's is about zero right now but to other teams he could be a project worth investing in. Kind of like Sprewell to Golden State, worth nothing, but to other teams valuable.

Once he gets over his little emotional deal and gets back to ballin' teams will want him. He will likely make more than the MLE.

Either Battier or Najera would be better fits for our team. I'd take Najera because he brings a mental toughness and hustle that can truly be inspirational.

That's a pretty silly reason. That's like saying you don't want Richard Jefferson because we traded his pick for Griffin.

How about Eddie to Cleveland for Chris Mihm? The Cavs have Diop to back up Ilgauskas and Eddie can back up Boozer.

Or would Silas and Paxson be afraid he would poison James and all the other kids on that team?

If Chris can get his career back on track I think a Mihm/Ming frontcourt would work pretty well.
