Could the Rockets or (maybe more appropriately) Should the Rockets trade for Baron Davis? I read off of NBA.com that Baron Davis is asking to be traded. Your thoughts on what could be some options.
Will Davis improve the team? Yes. Should they try to get him? Yes. Can they get him without giving up Yao or Tracy? No. Will he ever wear a Rocket uniform? No. Will this thread be locked? Yes.
Here's the article if anyone wanted to check it out... http://www.nola.com/hornets/t-p/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/10941928335480.xml
Chill out. This thread wont be locked just because you say so, its a legitimate discussion even though we have 0 chance of getting him.
Well it would have been possible if we would have not just traded away Wilks, Pike, and AG. Just kidding man. No bro, I dont' believe its a possibility and as I sit here and think about it, I don't think he would be a good fit. Would there be enough shots to go around with another superstart player in the mix? You may think this is funny but if the Rockets had a legit shot at getting Davis I would rather them pass on it and instead still try to trade for Antonio Daniels. Well it doesnt matter, let the thought pass out of thy head, cause as Jumpman said we don't have the players to get Davis.
Why would you even want Baron on this team? We have our two superstars and we don't need a 3rd. He's whining because he wants to go somewhere where he can win. Well, too bad. What was the use of this thread?
Baron is a better player. Similar scorer, better defender, better passer. He's more a student of the game than Steve will ever be, he constantly watches tape of great PG's to improve his game, and if he stays in good shape and finds a better supporting cast he'll be even better.
He also needs the ball to be effective, and he's making the Max. We don't need a PG taking away shots from Yao and Tmac, who are both more efficient that Baron. Adding BD would be so counterproductive it isn't even funny. His game is basically taking on guys one on one, or dribbling out by the perimeter and launching up 3s. That's okay if he's your only offensive option, but not on this team.
I don't know. He's a good 3pt shooter, good defender, and his asst/to ratio is pretty good considering the attention he gets and how poor his teams have been. But in the end, I wouldn't do it simply because we can't afford it. It's pretty easy integrating 3 stars into one team, and Baron can feed off T-Mac/Yao... However, the Rockets can't have 3 MAX players, and Yao's will be kicking in 2 years from now.
maybe u didnt see last season when baron was jacking three after three after three. he looked like the second coming of antoine walker. i am unsure of his defense and toughness. his assists were better than sf, but i believe in all other facets of the game sf excels, but baron is younger. barons injuries are of a big concern too, he played 82 games his first 3 seasons, but 50 and 60 something the past two. actually: i think its a moot point now watching PTI stat boy said at the end that the hornets announced they have no intentions of trading baron
i think if we get deke, the team is gonna be great. davis has a all-star value, and to get him, the Rox would need to give too much that would unbalance the team. and personally, i think davis is more useful when he is the main scorer, not a passing pg... We already got tmac and yao to do that.
