Atlanta trades: Theo Ratliff, Alan Henderson Atlanta receives: Glen Rice, Ron Mercer, Bojstan Nachbar+ Future First round picks from NY and Indiana Houston trades: Moochie Norris, Glen Rice Houston receives: PF Austin Croshere, Ron Artest Indiana trades: Austin Croshere, Ron Mercer, Ron Artest Indiana receives: Latrell Sprewell, Charlie Ward New York trades: Latrell Sprewell, Charlie Ward New York receives: Theo Ratliff, Alan Henderson, Moochie Norris TRADE ACCEPTED Atlanta gets a jump start for rebuilding. Houston gets the defensive presence of Artest and Chroshere (albeit at inflated price). Rockets also cut their pay roll by 1.5-2 million, possibly avoiding/minimizing the luxury tax for this year. Indiana gets Latrell Sprewell and the cap room (Charlie Ward's contract can be bought out for 2 million, giving them extra 4 million to bring back Brad and Reggie Millers. NY gets much needed size, shot Blocknig and rebounding.
On "Houston Trades: Glen Rice, Moochie Norris"...you need to add Bostjan Nachbar. Not bad...you are the 2nd best trade proposer here... Francis/Free agent like Kenny Anderson Mobley/Posey/Hawkins Artest/Posey Griffin/Taylor Yao/Cato Looks pretty good....BUT as you know, Artest is a crazy man but I think JVG would love him. Also...that does nothing to help our frontcourt. For Atlanta...they still have Glenn Robinson but they do get those picks BUT they'd only have 1 center...correct? For Indiana...they give away talent for the same amount of talent back and they also get cap space. I don't know why'd they do it really........unless the owner likes Sprewell. BUT you are right. That will give them the extra money to sign the Millers back. I think it would be good for New York...but who plays small forward?
Croshere and Artest????????????? Thats not enough for Rice, Nachbar, and Mooch....... We basically get artest for all that, because croshere is the equivalent to Mooch, bad contracts, not enough talent..... This sucks
Croshere's terrible contract would severely limit the Rocket's already limited flexibility in the future. It doesn't seem to me that we are that hurting defensively that we need to make this trade. A defensive stopper is nice, but not at the expense of taking on a bad long term contract.
