First of all, let me breakdown the Haynesworth contract situation.

The Redskins have already paid 2009 and 2010 salaries plus the $5 million and $21 million bonuses. Any team trading for Haynesworth would essentially be paying his 2011 and 2012 base salaries ONLY. That poison pill $20 million comes into play in 2013. Therefore, Haynesworth becomes a 2 year rental at $12 million total. That is a very good price for two years of a defensive tackle under 30.

The Redskins in return are seeking a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft but I think that is just wishful thinking and the real value is more like a 3rd rounder for a disgruntled player like Albert coming off a terrible season with 16 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He was in trouble with Shanahan since training camp and was suspended for the rest of the season after 8 games. I know the guy is a big motivation issue but then he also said he didn't want to play in the 3-4. Now assuming Phillips plays a 4-3 with the personnel we have, Haynesworth could be a great contributor as a 4-3 tackle alongside Mario.

Now, here comes the big question, do you think it's worth a risk trading for Haynesworth and his baggage at $12 million total for two years in exchange for a 3rd round pick?

I think it would be worth it if we weren't switching to a 3-4 defense.

Doubt will need to trade for him, I can't see him surviving much longer there.

    Is there something Ive missed?
No where has been confirmed we are switching to a 3-4. All I have seen and heard is that Wade has been very successful with both the 3-4 and 4-3. If we dont have the personel for the 3-4 why switch when Wade has proven he can be creative and work with mostly anything. Lets wait until we hear it from his mouth and stop assuming.

As far as Haynesworth I think it might be a risk worth taking. We are almost in desperation mode, chips all in so to speak so we need to do something that proves we are trying to make a push for the goals we have had the past couple of seasons. Afterall, if its a 3rd pick, atleast it wont be wasted on another TE.

Do it. If he helps who cares at least Uncle Bob is paying through the teeth for him, and if he's a cancer who cares it'll only get Gary out the door faster.

If the Texans trade to go 3-4 before finding a serious NT, I'll be furious (but not surprised). Bob will probably have them checking practice squad rosters to save money.

Albert is a Idiot, plus he does not want to be a NT, thats what started all the problems up in Washington. Plus if you dont wanna work with Shannahan why in the hell would you wanna work for his unproven disciple?

If we don't switch to the 3-4 defense I would love having this guy on our team, I know he has some issues, but you can't deny when the guy is playing in the right system he can be beast.
