So the question becomes - What are they worth to us? Is it correct that TE's can not be packaged in an actual trade?
So then, what are they likely to be worth for us? Will they be handy at the deadline? Or maybe even earlier?
depending on how much money the rockets spend on resigning their own FA's, they will probably be worried about staying under the Luxury Tax. they are likely worth pretty little at this point since the team isn't likely to be looking to add players or salary. most likely, they will all expire without the rockets using them.
-Very good point. Judging from Morey's recent moves he's been trying to cut cap space and he knows he has a solid team this year. He isn't going to be shopping for that many players this year like he did the last year. He's definitely doing a good job managing payroll. We're ranked 9th in payroll, and finished for a really good record even without yao towards the end. He has set us up quite nicely for the next couple of years.
I love Morey's cost cutting moves but I think morey would pull the trigger on another BIG deal if he thought it improved our odds. I know most GM's would do that but this season has been classified by many as an "all-in season". I wouldn't be surprised to see Morey's first desperation move. That is of course if this team isn't deep enough. At this point Les knows this could be his last chance. Anything less than a Western Conference Finals apperance would be the most dissappointing season in my Rockets life.
Morey wont pull another big move untill the landry situation is clear. if he dosent opt to re-sign, we might see a move made for someone like joe smith. if landry does stay and deke and dorsey opt to sign on, i just see mini moves being made like trading luther for a pick or maybe even signing mighty mouse.
Morey has tried his best to make our team a little bit better but his boss is just doing something opposite .Mr Les is not willing to pay even one penny of lux tax . No way will rockets win a championship with such a mean owner , only those with generous bosses are able to win the ship . Like the Celtics , they pay for the big three over 60 m , never to mention the other role players .So the trading exceptions are not useful to us at all .Les is reluctant to add even one dollar to our team salary because he fears tax as fearing tigers . I suggest morey trade Les n the exceptions for some expirnig contracts or veterans who are not as mean as the damn boss .
You're an imbecile albert. les has shown the willingness to spend for the right talent value. artest springs to mind. over the years he payed to get pippen, barkley, clyde and mcgrady to come here. the perciption that les is cheap is dead wrong.
Not to mention giving money to players that didn't work out like Maloney (didn't he make the all rookie second team?), Mo T, Cato, etc. They didn't work out but at the time we thought they might be good, but Les is willing to spend.
-Albert are you serious? Compared to the other owners in our city, i'd say Les is the one approving big time decisions trying to give Houston their best chance every where at a playoff run. We dont need to win the championship by having an excessive payroll with players just filled with talent alone. Portland had a very expensive team a couple years ago with all their talent, Sac town in the Webber/bibby days had an expensive team, so did the Mavericks, and the list continues. You cant expect to win simply on "buying" the best players. Morey's not going to over inflate the payroll just to put people in seats and expect to win a championship. They are committed to putting a quality product on the floor, winning a ring with the right players in RA's system. Plus Les has been loosing his ass monetarily in FMD, he might shy away a little from pay such high luxury taxes as he knows his only solid revenue stream right now is the Rockets.
