We don't have a poll of what we think of the Brooks and Battier trade.

I am partial with the Brooks trade. I think we would have gotten more with Brooks. I was hoping to get a center rather than a guard. I thought the best trade for Brooks is trading with sacramento since they have a surplus of bigs. If Landry was available, I would have traded for him.

Battier would be untouchable if we we are contenders at this point. But in a semi-rebuilding mode, it was a great move for the future. Thabeet probably can't play that much with all their bigs in Memphis so I think this is a good trade. I would have taken a second look on Haddadi since he played well in the Asian championships.

What do you think of these trades?

Battier trade was HORRRRRRRRIBLE. No sugar coating it, it was just bad. It was a trade with the only reason being the hell of making a trade. It was probably the first and only good trade in the career of Chris Wallace. It was bad. There are not enough words to describe it in the English language. Just bad.

    Brooks trade was good

You would have preferred to let Battier's contract expire and see him walk then trade for a first round pick? Or is it the 5 million owed to Thabeet that makes it a horrible trade?

I would have preferred him to expire and then try to sign him to a smaller deal or sign-and-trade him for something good.

A big whop, a lottery protected 1st in 2013. Is Chris Wallace still the GM of Memphis? If so, more than likely that Memphis will be in the lottery in 2013.

It was bad. Stop sugarcoating it.

lolololololol. I'm pretty much neutral on this deal, but it's laughable that someone could make it out to be an awful deal.

What exactly is a team going to get in a S&T for Battier? His entire value is the short term contract, not someone signing and trading for a 33 year old on a long term deal.

The Battier trade was a good one -

Battier is an unrestricted FA. He's said he wants to stay here - He may resign in the offseason. If so , you got something for nothing.

I cant see a GM doing a sign and trade for Battier when he could simply just pay a fraction more and keep his assets - You only do S&T's when you are working with MAX type contracts.

A Lottery protected pick for a guy you might just resign in the offseason , a guy you were going no where with and are going no where without ? Sounds like a win to me .... but then again , I took the time to consider the options before I opened my trap.

I think the Battier trade was some foolish crap.

I saw the Brooks trade happening, and at least we got some talent. Still, Brooks is and will always be a better player than Dragic.

    Loosely based on "Hollinger's Analysis"...

Rockets: 36-46 (win 8, lose 15 of remaining games this season)
Grizzlies: 46-36 (win 14, lose 9 of remaining games this season)

    Suns Grade: C
    Rockets Grade: C+
    Grizzlies Grade: B+

It's difficult to grade the trades, because assuming no trade went down, there is little reason to believe that Brooks would remain with the Rockets next season anyway. Battier, despite his intangible contributions, was too established at the 3 spot, and had to go in order to allow more flexibility with the rotation. Who knows, maybe we haven't seen the last of him. Despite the negative statistical implications of the trade, this trade might actually boost morale on the team.
