L.A. Clippers trades: SF Corey Maggette (15.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.6 apg in 32.0 minutes) PF Melvin Ely (3.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.0 apg in 11.6 minutes) L.A. Clippers receives: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.1 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (4.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 18.0 minutes) Change in team outlook: -4.6 ppg, +3.8 rpg, and +0.2 apg. Houston trades: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.1 minutes) C Kelvin Cato (4.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.4 apg in 18.0 minutes) Houston receives: SF Corey Maggette (15.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.6 apg in 20 games) PF Melvin Ely (3.2 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.0 apg in 14 games) Change in team outlook: +4.6 ppg, -3.8 rpg, and -0.2 apg. TRADE DECLINED Due to Houston and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only Houston met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Unless he's a deal breaker for someone like Brand, I don't think we should trade Cato. He's been a rock on the boards this season. Of course, I wouldn't bother posting a trade that wouldn't work either.
Besides Rice we have Moochie and Collier available for trade. Cato is a valuable part of the picture and as a;ready stated he could be only used if it was to help bring a STAR like Brand to the Rox. TRADE REFUSED!!!
Then what makes you think the Clippers want them for Maggette who has been pretty good this season. Especially knowing that their owner is cheap and doesn't even want to pay players the minimum much less take on 2 of our worst salaries. Instead of virusing RealGM let's just ask them to turn off the trade function for the Rockets. Maybe they could replace it with. "We here at RealGm respect the wishes of the patrons of our website. The people at Clutchcity do not want to see another stupid trade idea. Therefore, we have respectfully put a trade embargo on the Rockets. If you must make a stupid trade idea please take all your comments to the Utah Jazz board. They delight in such items. Thanks for your support"
Actually, I have an even better trade: Houston trades: Francis Mobley Rice Griffin Taylor Posey Hawkins Norris Collier Cato Houston receives: Miller Piatkowski Maggette Brand Olowokandi Odom Wang Zhi Zhi Richardson Wilcox Dooling Change in team outlook: David Stern quickly authorizes Les Alexander to change Houston's name to the Clippers while at the same time, allowing Donald Sterling to move the Clippers back to San Diego where they are re-named, the Rockets. Last, Les announces that he has always been a "west coast type of guy" and authorizes Stern to move Houston into the Pacific Division during realignment. Alexander fires Carol Dawson and hires Elgin Baylor. Rudy is outraged and quits. Alexandr and Baylor then hire Gene Shue to be the new coach. Rudy is then hired by Sterling to be the new head coach of the San Diego Rockets. Rudy states "My heart stayed in San Diego when we moved to Houston". Alexander then announces that Staples, out of the blue, has won the naming rights to the new Houston arena. The official name will be: Staples Center South. The new team colors will be red, blue and white. Alexander decides he wants to run things like Donald Sterling so he announces that he will no longer sign players to long term/high dollar contracts. He trades Yao to San Antonio for Mengke Bateer. The only player that is left from the "old" Rockets is Nachbar. Your new Houston Clippers rotation: SF Odom/Nachbar PF Brand/Maggette/Wilcox C Olowokandi/Wang/Mengke SG Richardson/Piatkowski PG Miller/Dooling Certain members of the clutchcity.net BBS have an orgasm after all this takes place, as their dreams have been fulfilled. Clutch quickly dies of a heart attack after 79% of China's population registers on the BBS in one day. DrofDunk is committed to an insane asylum after his friends notice him constantly muttering "I have to lock this thread!!". Jeff moves to San Diego and creates a website called "SaveourrocketsfromDonaldSterling.com". The End.
the reason why the rockets are losing has nothing to do with center or small forward. the rockets lack depth at point guard and shooting guard, but mostly shooting guard. their starting backcourt averages the most minutes played in the league. because of this, mobley and francis are bound to be fatigued and injured and inconsistent play will follow occasionally perhaps due to lack of rest and recuperation. if the rockets had signed free agents like kendall gill and rod strickland which minnesota did in the offseason, they would have no problems at either position and would have great backups to take off some of the load that francis and mobley are carrying. its because the rockets don't have a reliable backup at those positions that they have such inconsistent play. the other weak area for the rockets is power forward, but as long as eddie improves they should have no problem there.
Hmm I am sensing a banning in the near future. ANyways, The reason Real GM rejected it(as was somewhat pointed out earlier) is because the salaries of the traded players do not match. Therefore No it will not work!!!
