Since Juwan is now gone, and trade rumors all over the place, I thought I'd make an updated thread about our trade assets.

    Shane Battier
    Luther Head
    1st Rounder
    VSpan
    Bob Sura's Contract
    Kirk Snyder

These are our major trading chips (some may say Rafer Alston, but I don't think he's going anywhere). What we can get for them? Who knows.

One deal I would love to see would be for Ike Diogu from Indiana. Indiana has stated they need of shooters, and nobody is untouchable. They don't have any picks this year. Depending on if they keep Jermaine O'Neal, they might be willing to trade Diogu away, who is just a backup on their team. They have almost no backcourt and they're over the cap.

    Head, Sura, Snyder, and VSpan
    for
    Ike Diogu and Marquis Daniels

Gives us our big man and a swingman in Daniels who could really flourish in Adelman's system if he's healthy.

Gives them 2 players in Head and VSpan that they could really use, and Sura and Snyder will give them cap room after next year. They get rid of Daniels' contract ($6 million for 2 more years). Also they don't have to worry about his injury concerns anymore.

Allows us to keep our pick, along with Battier. We use it to draft Morris Almonnd, who replaces Head and can play SG or SF.

    Yao/Deke
    Diogu/Hayes
    Battier/Almond
    TMac/Daniels
    Rafer/James

No chance in hell that the Pacers trade Ike, they took on the bad contracts of Dunlevvy and Murphey to get him, why would they trade him for what is basically considered the Rockets waste?

It would be great having Ike on the team but considering what the Pacers did to get him, they would be fools to do this trade.

yea it is a bit optimistic on my part, but if they do keep O'Neal, i dont see why they wouldnt trade Diogu...he only played 13 minutes a game last year, plus they have Harrison, Foster, and Murphy as their bigs, along with Granger and Shawne Williams who can both play PF in a small lineup.

    Head, Sura, Snyder, and VSpan
    for
    Ike Diogu and Marquis Daniels

Am I the only one who thinks this is WAY WAY too much for those two players? I'd balk at shipping Head alone for both of those, let alone the other three (cept maybe Sura). Daniels is one of those underachieving types while Diogu is an unproven commodity, now way we give up so many players for those two.

How about the same outgoing players on our side, but we get back Murphy, Williams, and the Pacers 2008 pick (after the draft because they already owe their pick this season to Atlanta). Murphy would start at the 4 for us and is an Adelman type player in the mold of Brad Miller. Williams has potential and can play backup minutes at the 3. Indiana gets out from under Murphy's ugly contract, otherwise for them the reasoning is the same as given in the original post.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking, Maybe Morey will trade MJ for a better PF.

If he is not going to list Alston you damn sure can bet he is not going to list Mike James.

Ike & Chuck. 6-8 & 6-6. That's great size for the point, not PF. I'd make the trade for Murphy & Daniels, but not Ike & Daniels. Indy isn't giving up their 08 pick.

Murphy makes $10 a year for the next couple of years and cannot play defense AT ALL. I'm not so sure he's the answer to our PF problems, and that salary would definitely cause problems next off-season.

well the probability of them trading ike is like .01%, but ike has like a 7'4 wingspan and a 9'1 standing reach (bogut was 9'3 at 7 feet tall), not to mention ike is strong as a bull

why is it too many? vspan and snyder are both unproven as well. sura is broken and his contract isnt big enough to get anyone all that great (cept for artest). daniels has some upside and can ball when hes healthy.

Starting lineup for the San Antonio Spurs.

    C - Oberto 6'10"
    PF - Duncan 6'11"
    SF - Bowen 6'7"
    SG - Finley 6'7"
    PG - Parker 6'2"

They are not a real big team when you compare them to the Rockets.

    C - Yao 7'6"
    PF - Hayes 6'6"
    SF - Battier 6'8"
    SG - Tmac 6'9"
    PG - James 6'2"

If the Rockets can get a bigger player at PF, they will have a very formidable team.

Heck sign Chris Webber for a couple of years.....

Lets not fall into the pit of un-productive players in Indiana. One of the main reasons the teamed failed to deliver is b/c of the team focus on PF's.

    There are better options.

Collison for Head is not a bad deal although I love Luther just like the next fan, but the hole at 4 is huge.

McDyess is a great possiblity, PJ Brown would be a nice cheap addition. The way I see it, all we need at the 4 is a enforcer, a tough big rebounding PF.

Well, the new power forward needs a decent mid-range shot to punish teams when they double on Yao.

Or they could cut to the basket for a layup like Hayes. Layups >> Jump Shots

Simply put, if the Rox offered Rafer/Sura for Murph (whom the Pacers reportedly are insisting Lakes take back w/JO'N deal) then Bird/Walsh say, 'Oh, yeah!' But, the Rox probably would not make the offer - TM's contract implies he's as good as golllllllllllllll-d.

I don't really like Collison, hes more an undersized center then a PF, plus he doesn't really add any shot blocking and he finishes about as strong as Hayes does anyway.

I really like the idea of McDyess, someone who could start at PF and give alot of mins. at the backup center. Plus he has retooled his game really well after his injuries. I doubt that the Pistons are going to let him walk, but if something gets done before they sign Chauncey then theres a chance.

The important thing for the Rockets is to get some versatility in the post instead of having a guys who can really only play either center or power foward.

As far as Diogu goes, the Pacers would probaly only part with him if their trade partner took either Murphy or Dunleavy. No thanks
