Just curious what you guys think of the rumored offer of Antawn Jamison and #3 for our #1. Don't get me wrong, I like Ming but he comes with so much baggage and uncertainty. Besides GS would take Williams and the Chinese govt. et al would get screwed at their own game when Ming isn't #1. Adding Jamison would be nice and perhaps we could dump one of our high salaried bench warmers in the process. Dunleavy would be a nice addition at the 3 and I would try Griffin at center in a Rasheed Wallace type attack. Just curious what you guys thought.

There is no way that Griffin can play center. The guy has truble posting up agaist SFs or PFs, you think he can play the 5 spot? He is only around 6-9 220, which is way to small to play center. Jamison contract is to big, someone who knows it tell me what it is. But if we could dump Rice's and Tayler's contract then Jamison would be worth it.

    PG-Francis
    SG-Mobley
    SF-Griffin
    PF-Jamison
    C-Cato
    6th-Dunleavy or Butler or KT

We can't draft Ming to trade him. Not in this world or any other. Why would we? We've needed this kind of player for a long time.

I say do it. I don't think Krause would take Ming #2 so we could still end up with him. Plus we would get the SF we need in Jamison and then we can take the best available player at 15. Then Aaron McGhee in the second round.

Do you know anything about Krause? First, he lusts after Ming - he even went to China to talk months ago. Second, even if he didn't, if we screwed him out of Williams, he would take Ming just to spite us. (he has a history of doing things like this)

They could, conceivably, make the G.S. trade, get Jamison, let the Warrirors take Williams #1, Krause takes Dunleavy at #2 and Ming falls into our lap at the three. Neither of the two teams behind us is interested in a big man, let alone Ming. Problem is, Rockets may guarantee the Chinese certain things from making this at all possible.

EVERYBODY wants a big man and this especially means a talented one like yao ming. he will not fall to number 3 plus we can't afford that risk.

I would not want Jamison even if he did not have the bloated contract. In addition to his post D(lack of) his offense does not impress me that much either. I always considered him to be the "Stackhouse" of pf/sf`s. Whenever I watched him play he seemed to launch a lot of 3`s and ill-advised shots. He is capable of monster games every now and then(back to back 50 pts+ games a couple of years ago) but I would not want him. I looked up his shooting percentages and they were a little better than I expected (44% last year, 44-47 before that).

I`m not saying he`s a bad player by any means. He does have some very quick post moves ala Larry Johnson before the back problems and also a nice little jump hook. He would be an upgrade over MoT although I`m not sure how much but even if he was a good fit for the rocks(which I don`t think) we can`t afford another max or near max player on the team.

If we had a deal set up to trade him for a stud sf as soon as he arrived that would be different. To me though any trade discussions with the warriors STARTS with their no1 this year and next(unprotected). Knowing how Rudy likes tall, not so athletic shooters he would probably settle for Murphy and their no1 this year though.

Right now, it sure seems like Rudy has a hard on for Ming...

Theres no way, he'd take Murphy... good grief. He might take Richardson, who we could move to SF, like a Vince Carter. But I don't think he'd take Jamison, either, as good as he is, since he doesn't really fit our team.

And as far as Chicago is concerned, I think Krause would give up Curry to get Ming. That's who he REALLY wants. That's why the whole Crawford throw-in won't work, since he really wants Ming, anyway.

At this point, it sure doesn't seem like the Rockets want to trade Ming. They really are excited about him at this stage, and I have to admit, I'm starting to become a believer, too. Maybe he will be as good as Dream in his own way, and there's no combination of players that would be worth trading for. I believe they will do the right thing, and know far more than I do, or the rest of the media.

I don't believe Houston would trade Ming for one player and a lower draft pick. Of course, if we could domino down in trades, you'd have to consider it. For instance, if CHI wants Ming so bad, and would give us Curry and the #2, then we traded the #2 to Golden State, who gave us Richardson and the #3, so they could take Williams, then LAC gave us Odom/8/12 so they could take Wagner, and we took Hilario, Stoudamire, trade the #15 for a next year lottery pick , and Dixon, that would be quite a haul.

Imagine Curry, Richardson, Odom, Hilario and Stoudamire instead of Ming. (We'd lose Thomas, Norris, Collier, etc.) I have to admit, I'd probably take that. But at this point, it would take something like that to work out in order to give up taking Ming #1. This team could probably go all the way in a few years with ...

    Curry/Cato/Hilario
    Griffin/Taylor/Stoudamire
    Odom/Rice/TMo
    Mobely/Richardson/Torres
    Francis/Dixon/Brown
    next year lottery pick

Thats a lot of pieces we could also use in trade, and depth with huge future upside. For instance, if we really wanted Lewis, I bet Seattle would take Odom/Taylor for Lewis in S&T.

But, I think not taking Ming is probably a bigger risk at this point ... what the Rockets do with their decisions this summer, will probably determine whether Houston becomes a champion again in the near future.
