Hey guys. Considering the laggy off season please excuse this thread. This is just for ****s and giggles. Would you rather have Tracy McGrady at the peak of his career or Yao Ming at the peak of his career. This is taking all public relations out of the question. Purely talent and team chemistry. Which player would take us farther solo with the roster that we have now?

I don't get it... We had both of them at the peak of their careers.

I pick tracy just because he can carry this team better than Yao. Yao need another star to help him. But Yao brings in the money which I don't really see. But I rather not have any of them.

I really agree. I think yao is an excellent player but tracey would be my choice. He would bring a more dynamic atmosphere to the game.

Based on the roster we have now,I'd like to take Yao over Tracy, but Yao's ability is limited on the court and I admitted that his offense could carry the whole team when the game is on the line, but his mobility is questionable since Jeff Van Gundy day.

So I vote T-Mac.His agility and killer instinct are crucial at critical moment, also his ability to rip through the opposing defense is great. He can shoot, pass, create his own shots and create opportunities for his teammates for the wide open 3s.

    McGrady I guess...

It all depends on what the surrounding players are like and what a team needs. If you had a team of shooters needing post presence help then obviously Yao but McGrady can fit with anyone even if he hasn't really won anything..

In their primes... I'd obviously have Mac.... he was how Kobe is nowadays.... just unstoppable on the offensive end... pure talent that was wasted.

Tracy would be a wise choice because of what He has done in his career however getting a legitimate center who can actually play and most times dominate does not come often. Yao would be a better choice if you are looking for a player to build your team around.

At this point, you are correct but the question is a hypothetical question to see who is a better player.

I would take T-Mac at the peak of his career. Sure, he's injury prone, but at his peak he was never sorrounded by a quality team. Once he got with Yao, the supporting cast was missing. Once the supporting cast got there, Yao and T-Mac took turns getting injured.

We don't even know Yao's peak really. He keeps getting better as he becomes more experienced but injuries have taken their toll and stopped him from being one of the greatest centers ever. He is still the best offensive center in the league right now.

    Both are injury prone.

Heart or no heart, this is the question.

I believe a better question to this thread would be...If Yao was just coming out of China and T-Mac was just coming out of h.s., (and they are clearly the #1 and #2 guys in the draft) and the Rox had the #1 overall pick, who would you want them to take?

Recent history in the draft (Oden over Durant) would say go with McGrady. Scary skills almost unmatched, Durant can get off any shot he wants within 40 feet of the basket and will most likely win a scoring title or 3 in his career in the NBA. Of course, Oden will never, ever, ever, ever be anywhere near as good offensive end as Yao. But with the '08 Draft notwithstanding, I would take Yao. I wouldn't be drafting him knowing that he would get injured, I would be drafting him becuase a guy 7'5'' shouldn't be able to do what he does on the O-end. Plus, even though it isn't always the case, I believe that its easier to build a championship team around a great center than a great wing.

    Who would I rather have,
    Talent-wise: TMac

    Who would I rather have,
    Team-wise: Yao

This poll is beyond reason! Are you a Rocket's fan? You certainly didn't put much thinking time into it because Yao Ming hasn't reached his peak yet!! :p Also you might be surprised by Tracy this season, remember it is going to be his contract year. Do not prejudge these two great players!!!
